WGA Files Charges Against AMPTP with NLRB - Dec 14, 2007 - 10:58am
"Do you really think companies would pay people proper wages, pay for medical insurance, have proper work conditions, and treat their employees with some sort of respect if it wasn`t for what unions as a whole do?"
I'll field this question, and the answer is, "Yes, I do." I believe it is perfectly fine for people to unionize, but if they choose to do so, they should be sure the skills they offer are actually worth something. For example, if a highly skilled group agrees to form a union to negotiate better salaries from their employer, more power to them. However, if the jobs they perform could probably be performed by trained monkeys, I fully support the owner's right to fire the whole lot of them. That's the problem with unions; they've been granted legal protections they don't deserve.
I don't doubt for a second these writers could be replaced, and some of them could be replaced fairly easily. However, since this union has earned special protection, they can't be replaced with ease. That's not right.
Salva Returns for JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 - Nov 09, 2007 - 07:43am
That is absolutely false, Munester. Polanski's victim has clearly stated she was raped. Polanski fled after agreeing to a plea bargain, which is why he was never convicted.
