James Badge Dale will play Savin (aka Coldblood-7), a villain in Iron Man 3. Robert Downey Jr stars and Shane Black is directing. Badge Dale just finished The Lone Ranger for Disney, and will next be seen in the Robert Zemeckis-directed Flight with Denzel Washington and World War Z with Brad Pitt. Marvel Studios gets underway with the film later this month. Ben Kinsgley has been rumored as The Mandarin, and Gwyneth Paltrow and Rebecca Hall are also in the film.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

Although the first was excellent, the second wasn't nearly as good.  The main reason was a weak villian in Mickey Rouke.  If this is the way they are going again then I only hope he isn't the main villian and more of a side kick.

Doesn't Coldblood work with SHIELD? That's the only time I can remember seeing him in a comic. I sure hope they give us The Mandarin with all this Extremis stuff going on. At the very VERY least give us a post credit reveal like we got with Avengers.

Coldblood?  Talk about little known.  They have tons of stories to deal with Iron Man, they choose poorly with IM2 now this crap?  Good thing we have Avengers to look forward to for Iron man stuff.

Iron Mans villians are just weak really when you look at it lol what did you expect?  Cap has the best villians out of all 4 - IM -Thor-Hulk.

ElBaz13 5/17/2012 5:23:46 AM

This is an odd choice for villain considering IM's rogues gallery. But, he's not the main villain and will most probably be just one of Mandarin's thugs.

I'm more than happy Marvel Studios is at least digging through their 5000 character library instead of creating new characters for the movies. One of my biggest beefs is the introduction of new characters in the movies when they have the liberty to use their library. As much as I love the Agent Coulson character, they could have used an already established SHIELD agent in the role.

Mandarin ... my all time fav IM villain!

They should fast track a Heroes for Hire TV series with Luke and Danny!

ElBaz13 5/17/2012 5:43:02 AM

Totally agree with Heroes for Hire TV show. The premise is pretty much TV show material. And it's not like they need to blow the budget on crazy SFX like a Hulk character. Luke Cage and Iron Fist are easy to do street level heroes. They could also add Misty Knight and Colleen WIng for the cast.

I hear you ElBaz13, adding to that beef (for me) is villians they've used before. I'm tired of seeing Superman go up against Lex or Gen Zod, Batman go up against the joker or cat woman, (If they reboot) Fantastic Four I really don't want to see Dr Doom again. They have SOOO many awesome villians already established in the comics that can present new and different problems for the heroes.

This is akin to using Will-o-the-Wisp as a villain in a Spiderman movie or Killer Moth in a Batman flick.
