Vin Diesel ready to play a Marvel villain?

In a recent interview with MTV Splash Page, Vin Diesel (out promoting 'Babylon A.D.') said he has little interest in playing a Marvel super hero on the big screen. However, playing a villain is a different story.

"I've been holding out [on doing a comic book movie] and the reason why I've been holding out is because I am going...I'm waiting to do a film where the protagonist is the villain," Diesel said, choosing his words carefully. "I'm kind of done with the Marvel hero. I now want to see...what would be exciting to me, and no one's come to me with yet, is a film about a villain that we're familiar with at Marvel, and showing the complexities of..."

Diesel was then asked if he had a specific villain in mind. His response was to whisper/mumble something unintelligible into his hand.

So it's not clear if this is just the musings of an actor put on the spot, or if there is more to this secret "Vin Diesel plays a Marvel Villain" project. Does he, in fact, have a specific character in mind? Is he working on a take to bring to Marvel? Is Marvel actively talking to the actor?
