Walking Dead Season 4 Regulars Announced

Karen, The Governor, Beth and Tyreese

By Robert T. Trate     April 04, 2013
Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Season 4 of The Walking Dead was announced a long time ago. What wasn’t announced was who would be the stars of Season 4. If we knew that, we would know who would live and who would, well... you know. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that “Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha) and Emily Kinney (Beth) will have a major presence when the zombie drama returns in October, with Melissa Ponzio (Karen) set as a recurring guest star”. Coleman’s Tyreese is a regular in the comics, but at this point anything goes. Hell, we still are in the prison and comic readers know how that went down.

Who is Melissa Ponzio? She played Karen, the lone survivor of the Governor's melt down after the attack on the prison went belly up.

Expect big news for the series out of both the New York Comic Con and the San Diego Comic Con this summer and fall.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October with new showrunner Scott M. Gimple.

Comic spoilers:

With Andrea gone now, who is going to be the resident sniper?  And who will Rick eventually shack up with?

End spoilers

I'm still pissed that Andrea died at a time when many viewers hated her character.  She's so bad ass in the comics.  Maybe Karen will take her place?

Diaz, SpOiler:  he's going to shac up with Abraham in another departure from the comics.  Rick is gay!

Actually, once all was said and done, I understood her motivations much more clearly and I liked Andrea.  I was sorry to see her go too.

They forgot to add that it was announced on EW webisite that the Gov will continue to be a regular on the show.  So, don't count another prison showdown out yet.  I think this was a wise move.  They started with a charismatic Gov who was barely holding it together...to the Gov who mowed down half his town in cold blood.  That sound effect they used was creepy as hell as he finally snapped.  Now you get full blown nut job Gov.  And, a bus load of red shirts.

I have a feeling (and I think it would be awesome) that the tables may turn and the Gov becomes the hunted... Michonne seemed to take Andreas death very hard - she cleary loved her. I could see Michonne going Ninja assasin and embarking on a solo mission of tracking down the Gov for revenge.

Rick will shack up with Beth. Maybe it will be the taboo story next season her being a "teen". Bu have you all noticed the close ups she has when she sees Rick whenever he walks in. Plus she has been taking care of the baby mroe than anyone, acting as the "mom".

I could see more friction with Carl and Rick after the last scene they had. Carl has a thing for Beth. She thinks he's too young and now a little psycho. She has a thing for Rick. I could almost see an episode in which she confesses that Carl has started to creep her out and she hugs him and Carl in the background, seeing this, getting more angry.

Has anyone noticed Beth looking at Rick like that this season?

Not so much ElBaz, but I did notice a "look / vibe" between Rick and Michonne in that last episode... THAT would be interesting. But I could definietly see something happening between Beth and Rick, especially taking into account her mothering of Kick-Ass.

wheres Lennie James illest actor out rite now

Elbaz, I didn't notice that either but that's a good catch. When I first read this, I thought for sure Beth would be the one to bring Carl back from the darkside. But as a writer I guess it's more juicy to make a love triangle of sorts outta Beth.

Funny that you metion Lennie James... I was watching the opening scene of the Lost In Space remake the other day and there was Lennie James, starfighter, piloting alongside Joey from Friends!

Interesting that none of the stars announced for next season are part of that group of old people and little kids from woodbury that Rick's group took in.

Wonder what they'll do with the baby girl.  Will she be crawling around the prison next season?

...also curious about what's going to happen with Carl.  Is he going to keep raising himself or is someone going to give him some guidance.  Is he going to be allowed to act like a kid...or is he going to keep walking about in his Dad's hat with a perpetual snarl on his face playing grown-up?

Maybe next time they run out to get baby formula someone should pick up some fun stuff (like a little booze, a deck of playing cards, a football).  Also think this show needs more (some?) sexual activity. Daryl has got to pay a little less attention to his cross bow and more to the ladies.  All worrying and no fun is a sure fire formula for manic depression.

I'd like to hear someone on the show start talking about plans for their future.

It would be nice to see the Walkers make a comeback.  They were insignificant at the end of last season.  People kept fearlessly walking back and forth between Woodbury and the Prison without any problems.
