Viz Media has announced that they're changing to a new distribution partner for their anime releases as of April 1st, 2009. Starting on that date, they'll be using Warner Home Video to distribute their new and catalog releases. The first new titles that come under this agreement are Naruto Uncut Box Set 13 and Hunter vs. Hunter Box Set, Vol.2, which are slated for release on April 7th. Back catalog titles such as Pokemon, Bleach, Death Note and Inuyasha will also be available through WHV as of this date.
Hidemi Fukuhara, the President and CEO of Viz Media, commented “We look forward to joining forces with Warner Home Video and are confident that in working with their strength in sales and distribution, we will continue to grow the anime category even more effectively than we have over the last several years.”
Viz Media does not have all that many titles slated for the 2009 release schedule, at least publicly yet, and they are finishing out the current big one with Death Note in the first quarter of the year. Viz Media also has a number of titles that have ceased release mid-stream in the last few years as well.
