Rheul, I hate you... for being right.  LOL.  I LOVED this show, but I watched a couple episodes with my daughter last year, and I couldn't help but laugh at the identically systematic nature of each episode.

This was a great show when I was 6.  It was decent when I was 8.  By the time I was 10, I had found Robotech, and Voltron had become lame and redundant (even back then).  So really, this show just doesn't need to be made into a movie.  Ever.

I understand and agree with many observations made about Voltron. I enjoyed this animation series as well when I was kid.  However, one of the problems that this property is going to have is that the idea itself is very dated; a huge robot fighter with various weapons, including wielding a large sword isn't very plausible, even in sci-fi/fantasy! Another as mentioned before, is the redundant nature that the series has had. There's also the tremendous price tag that will likely be associated with this production so that's another issue that the future producers and studio should bear in mind if they are wise.  Perhaps a live/animation type of filming should be in order.  Yes, it's possible that they could spin this into something good if not great, so who knows. I wish them well on it whoever ends up taking the reins for this...they may need it!

Doesn't Voltron take place on another planet as well?

The main thing I liked about Voltron was the toy.  Giant robots are always cool.  Giant robots that transform are extra cool.  Giant robots that transform from several other robots are awesome!

@momichell7... Yes! That's another extremely vexing thing about Voltron. They have this gigantic all powerful robot protecting a featureless planet that is seemingly devoid of life and resources except for the people who live in the planets only structure, the lion castle. The very same people who pilot Voltron! Yeah... its gonna take "Hollywood writing" to ruin this one LOL!

I remember there being people living on the planet, but they lived in primitive conditions for no readily apparent reason.  If memory serves, their homes looked very 18th-19th century eastern european.  Farmers, blacksmiths, shepherds, etc.

LOL thats even worse. The elite live in a huge palace with startling technology while the common folk live in constant fear of giant monster and robeast attacks while trying to scrape a living from the dirt. Priceless! The toy was kinda cool but the black lion was so disproportionate. That always bugged me.

Come on this is Hollywood trying to cash in on the giant robot box office receipts. I was never a fan but I am curious to see what they dream up.

Voltron Force? Why have I not heard about this until now? *shrug* Yeah, leave this title alone, Hollywood. Some great driector/producer should grab the rights to Robotech and run with that title. There's a great franchise just waiting to be revived right there! Plenty of storylines too.
