Great cast. Something like this is usually an afterthought for me, but I'm actually looking forward to this. Especially because of the cast.

von sydow is one of the most famous actor of the last century, the problem is the cast, always the same job, when you see him, you already now is the bad guy, but not at the first sigth. minority report, rush hour 3...

Don't forget he was in Judge Dredd.....Why is it the chicks from Dawason's Creek seem to be doing ok, but the dudes are no where? Anyway, Leo's and Martin's bromance better make another good movie, which I am sure it will. The last 3 they did have been really good. I wonder how Deniro feels about Scoresse's new found love?

I think I may have an answer for you Whiskey. Because "chicks" have the physical appeal but will fizzle out of Hollywood if they don't aquire acting appeal, like all the other hasbeens from tv shows. Where guys don't. Their looks may make the girlie-teenie boppers squel but they grow out of it and stop watching shows and movies for just that reason. This insight comes from my daughter, who is turning fourteen next month, and told me this when I asked her why she doesn't watch those girlie shows she used to watch. She wants more depth. So now she watches shows with me like Chuck, 24, Lost, Bones, etc.
Hope that helps you Whiskey. On to the subject at hand. I've liked Von Sydow since I first saw him as King Osric in Conan the Barbarian. He's up there with the late Richard Harris. It's a bummer that he's getting older and will probably start slowing his career down.

Tell you what but Denis Lehane is definitely the go to guy now for source material and deservedly so. His books are the shiznit. Two movies that were directed and acted in by famous people that turned out to be excellent and now a movie directed by Scorcese? That only means soon all his books will be made and hopefully just as good. Though I hope they continiue using Ben Affleck and Casey for the rest of the Patrick Mckenzie and Angela Gennaro series.

On a side note I'm sick of everytime I visit this site in I have that damn quiz pop up in another window now. What the hell is up with that?

ALL HAIL MING!!!!!

Von Sydow is awesome in Dreamscape and he was one of the watchable people in JUDGE DREDD.

But his best role is the hitman in 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR, great spy thriller and just watching Faye Dunaway well HUBBA HUBBA HUBBAHUBBA HUBBA, she is like 70 and more than do-able.

He was also funny as hell in Needful Things as the devil or Lucifer or whatever.

"I killed my wife, is that wrong?
"Hey these things happen.".

I will say one thing about Max von Sydow, he has had quite a career. Do you any other actor who has played Jesus, the Devil, an Exorcist, and Ming the Merciless? Me either.

"Hail Ming! Hail! Ruler of the Universe!"

"This Ming is a Psycho."

MrJaw, I also hope they use the Afflecks for new Angie/Patrick movies. I loved the books and Gone Baby Gone did not disappoint. In fact that AND Mystic River are the two movies which are most identical to their source than any other adaptations I've ever seen. Caswy sure ws badass in the movie, he pulled off Patrick to a T.

As far as Sydow, he does always play the bad guy in movies, I haven't read Shutter Island and I think I'll wait til after the movie for this one...
