Vulcan-ized

By: Pamela Harland
Date: Wednesday, January 09, 2002

Having extremely large shoes to fill is the least of ENTERPRISE's Jolene Blalock's problems rather, the television newcomer plays a female Vulcan on the latest STAR TREK series. While the already successful show does have a number of preconceived notions to contend with, Blalock is less concerned with the inevitable comparisons made between her character and that of Leonard Nimoy's, and more worried about keeping her feelings in check while playing the non-emotional Subcommander T'Pol.

"It's been challenging for me because I'm very expressive," says Blalock. "It's taking things so intense and to such an acute level where it's just all in the eyes. You can say everything you need to say in the eyes because, really, language itself is so limiting."
