Another Medellin cartel flick by those "Entourage" creators? Well, sorta...Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, executive producers of the HBO show, are moving forward on an Untitled Drug Dealer biopic set around Vietnam veteran Jon Roberts. Both have rights to his life story and the plan is for Peter Berg to direct. A writer will be chosen to pen the screenplay when the WGA strike is resolved. If you catch up on the HBO show, the central story these past two years has been trying to get a Medillin flick made and this film's plot is somewhat related to that infamous drug cartel.
Plot Concept: After returning from Vietnam as a decorated soldier, Roberts headed to Miami in the late '70s and formed a relationship with the Medellin drug cartel, distributing cocaine worth billions of dollars. Wahlberg will play Roberts, who was turned in by a cohort and served a decade in jail for his crimes.
