Paul Walker (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS) is in negotiations to star in the big screen version of the 70s SWAT TV series from Columbia Pictures.
The film, which has a budget in the $70M range, is sceduled to ramp up production in this fall with plans for a summer 2002 release. Scheduling with Walker's obligations for Intermedia's WANNA-BE, shooting in October, may prevent the actor's participation.
The film, which has FAST AND FURIOUS scribe David Ayer writing the script, will tell the story of a grizzled police veteran who gets the opportunity to assemble a force to guard a high-profile criminal.
Commercial helmer Zack Snyder will direct, with Neal Moritz and Chris Lee producing.
