I think a couple of dummies are taking that "We want to run as long as The Simpsons" comment a liiiiittle too seriously.

I think it's safe to say that was simply a good-natured comment. Not a LITERAL one.

Long time lurker since Cinescape days - first time poster.  I think it's fitting that Superman might film in Alberta - the first one was.  And maybe parts of the 2nd - I can't remember.  In fact the Kent funeral scene was shot on my Dad's friend's farm and I used to have the Kent tombstone prop - completely wrecked it playing with it.  Calgary made a cool Metropolis because not many in the US were familiar with it and because it's a boomtown oil city it's all new steel and glass - not many heritage buildings.  That was then - now it's even more so.

I just want to say that I love the pairing of Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder helming a project like Superman, or anything for that matter, together.

With 6 episode "seasons", Walking Dead might just catch up to the Simpsons yet.

 I think "as long as the Simpsons" was a little tongue in cheek.  But, it is a series that can stick around as long, or longer than CSI.  And, the ongoing cast changes will keep it interesting.  They just scratched the surface of the comic books.

I'd love to see the Walking Dead go 20 years but in order for it to be realistic it would have to go from the current setting and style and evolve into a scenario like "The Road" and then "The Road Warrior", then to "The Book of Eli"/"The Postman", then "The Blood of Heroes"...  I'm not really sure you could end the series on a positive note.  This would basically end human civilzation and that might be your finale: the last surving uninfected human on Earth consumed by zombies.  Awesome.

Capt Canuck needs to go save the seals from them savages up there. Shame on you canadiens for still doing this, especially for a country that likes to tout itself as progressive and non-violent

Nothing in the article suggests that Kirkman's quote was tongue in cheek although it's hard to believe that it wasn't. I hope he does have an end in mind. I think all series should have a complete story arc in mind as opposed to just filler episodes for the sake of keeping it going

@raa- byzarro is right from here on out unless otherwise noted The walking dead will get a 13 episode season run. It was announced officially quite awhile back

Actually, this entire article is covered with references to Canada.... You've got Captain Canuck, Ryan Reynolds is Canadian, Superman is shooting in Alberta (...and Metropolis was originally based on Toronto).  Canadians are slowly taking over the world!
