Wise: I thought Darabont left of his own accord to do other things. From what I read, that was always the plan.

I'm not worried about the hiatus or about the Darabont exit. The source material for this show is extremely rich and that's the first hurdle.

I agree with Bryzarro. I'm not happy about splitting the season, but at least we get 12 episodes and the wait for a third season will be shorter.

swisshammer, that was damage control. He was fired according to what I read a while after the fact, of course since there are different accounts everyone is going to believe what they want. I believe he was fired as I read for standing up for "over worked actors and their long hours" as well as the series' budget.

I honestly dont think this will hurt the show- fans will always tune in. Other shows have done this in the past without breaking stride. South Park is one such show that takes a hiatus. They do six shows then finish the season later in the year. I really have no problem with the wait.

You have to wait a year.  I have to wait until they come out on DVD.  I took a stand against cable prices for only a handful of quality shows (I'm not into MTV, E, and reality TV.)  Amazingly enough, two of them are on AMC.  But, it works for me.  I've done it with HBO for several years.

I do not mind the cutting of seasons. They have been doing it in Japan for years.  It allows a continuous story to be told with out being interupted with crap fillers.   They treat each season like one long movie/episode.

Less epissodes means more time spending on filming a quality show.
