As you may have heard, Shane lived much longer on the TV show.  He died early in the comic.  Tyrese replaced him as Rick's buddy.  They meet up in the prison.  He is a big dude (plump in the TV show) and completely bad ass.  He hooks up with an unstable Carol.  He also hooks up with Michonne.  This cause Carol to go off the deep end and off herself via a walker.  Tyrese kills a serial killer who kills both his daughter and her boyfriend.  He also kills a whole gym full of walkers.  Tyrese is a one man army.  He eventually becomes what Shane became in the TV series.  So, Rick's friendship with him became volitile.  I'm sure I left things has been a few years since I read the graphic novel.  But, a lot has changed in the transition.  Rick didn't go nuts until after the final shootout with the Gov (who was a white trash psycopath and lost a heck of a lot more than his eye.)

As usual my take on the show is different than everyone elses.  Andrea doesn't bother me at all. Much of what she's done has made perfect sense.  Why leave the security/safety of Woodbury  to wander in the woods with Michonne...based on some hunch that Michonne had about the Gov but couldn't articulate? The governor had given them sanctuary and nursed them back to questions asked.  Granted the gov acted strange at times (like Rick doesn't).  He treated Andrea relatively well (the Gov has a personality and can turn on the charm) Remember she didn't  see the daughter or collection of heads.

Andrea's attempt to make peace between Rick and Governor makes sense.  There's so much shit going down in this post apocalyptic world...humans killing humans en masse (for what?) is really stupid.

Andrea bothers a lot of you...well...Rick bugs the hell out of me. What a drama queen (he's not the only one whose lost a loved one on the show).  I've disagreed with half of his decisions, but none more than allowing Merle to re-join the group after what he did to Glen, Maggie and Michonne (abduction, humiliation, assault and attempted murder ).   It seems illogical that Merles victim's could bear that, and weird that Herschel would get cozy with the guy who put his daughter in peril  and damn near killed the kid he said was like a son to him.

Not leaving that Prison (hell hole) when they had a chance seemed dumb. They run from large groups of slow moving, dim witted walkers but choose to dig in and  fight a large number of intelligent, heavily armed human beings.

As for the Prison Group having Daryl...well whoop dee do...Daryl isn't The Hulk...he's just a guy (looks to be about 5'10" and 185 lbs) bullet and he's done (of course we know the writers won't let that happen to the series most beloved character).

Yep.  I still like Andrea, but hopes she becomes more like her character in the comic.  As for Rick & the Governor, if the show had been following both men from the beginning we might actually like the Governor more than Rick.  The Governor is bad, but not nearly as bad as the comic.  Rick is supposed to be the hero, but he has been really hard to be sympathetic towards ever since they got to the prison (really since when he declared himself the Ricktator of the group).

thx for the info. Seems like the TV Tyreses is far away from the character you describe in the comics tho. I guess we'll see.

@violator14 yeah Tyreese is different from the comic and that is probably why I had a problem with T-Dawg the fisrt two seasons - he was straight beyatch - and I thought he was some watered down Tyreese.  Also in the comic Tyreese is bad ass - he and Rick come to blows literally, all over power but they still have respect for each other.

I'm liking Merle.

He kind of reminds me of Wolverine when he first joined the X-men. He was a badass and took no bullshit from anyone. He was part of the team and most of the team members disliked having him around but, was still a great asset to the team. Basically, better to have him with you than against you.

But I do suspect he will die and more than likely in a form of redemption. Perhaps dying saving the two that hate him the most, Glen or Michonne. The talk with Hershel was foreshadowing of a character change. That's my guess.

ElBaz-haha.... i disagree with ur comparisons. I think Darryl is by far the Wolverine of the group. He's everyone's favorite badass, and doesnt take shit either. Merles is more like Sabretooth whenever he kind of joined the Xmen. Totally untrustworthy, but still a badass who can kick ass when needed.

blankczech, Andrea did see The Gov's dead daughter and the walker heads that were formerly in jars when she found him after the fight where Michonne took his eye.  I understand her motivation to want to stay in Woodbury, but she's discovered WAY too many secrets that the Gov has been keeping to believably still be attracted/loyal to the guy over her friends from the prison.

I'm in the Andrea group as well.  I can see what she's torn about.  Not necessarily about the Governer, but what's  best for the community(s).  She's still looking for a stable life and what she has there is the closest thing to it.  And heck, who in that world isn't messed up now?  Maybe she's hoping the Gov can be redeemed some how..

momitchell7 2/27/2013 12:42:54 PM

Yeah, I don't see why it's so hard to see where Andrea's coming from... she just wants everybody to be happy and play nice. Naive? yes, but I think it's more of an optimism thing. EVERYBODY's doing weird crap in this zombie apocalypse world (hell, even in the real world), so why would the Gov be any different? She's just trying to be a realist and overlook some of the shortcomings of the people she's come to care about... Besides, she really hasn't seen all of the bad things the Gov's done firsthand.

I too think Merle will die sacrificing himself for someone like Michonne - or maybe they'll go down together like Vazquez and Lt. Gorman in Aliens - "you always were an asshole Gorman..." BOOM!
