redvector, I wrote in a colum or in the comment boxes weeks ago I suspect Shane may have tagged Lori before she actually married Rick, and probably always had an attraction. Curious if that pans out.

elbaz, yes for Bernthal's Emmy nom, and agreed with the amazing ending

johnwhitetoledo, I do kind of wish Shane still meets his end the same way he does in the books, but it won't bother me if he doesn't. Though I half suspect he may never die in this version.

xJokers, I didn't see that one coming at all, and I usually pride myself on seeing these things. I was way off on my guess that she and Carl would become involved it never entered my head she'd be in that barn.

Wiseguy, I think Shane wins a hand to hand battle with Rick, but Rick eventually wins the war.

trollman, I love the idea that Hershel knew Sophia was in the barn. That would make a lot of sense. That will only cause more conflict. Great call.

Roqueja, I'm completely with you in regards to the book vs TV show. I enjoy the fact I don't know what happens next, yet other times they adhere very close to the source.

Just watched this episode last night and WOW! Im not sure how i can wait till february for this to start up again! The sophia reveal was great!

Awesome episode! It was cool to see Glen get the okay to start shooting the walkers as they were leaving the barn.  The whole sequence was intense.

I agree that Hershel HAD to know the little girl was in there, he knew everyone else that had been lured to the barn by the 'carrot on the stick'.

Great review!

Ok. Now that we all sit here and praise this show, can someone tell me why they push the boundaries on some things but not others? I mean...this feels like an R-rated show. They have no problems showing blown up heads and zombie autopsies but no nudity. Hell, even the swearing is lame. Not one f-bomb which to me, in  a zombie apocalypse, everyone should be throwing the f-bombs. Shane's ouitburst was a prime example.

I'm not being a perv or anything, but after watching shows that stick to being R-rated like Game of Thrones, Spartacus, that has a combination of gore and sex/violence, why can't this show?

Is it because AMC is a tamer network than Starz/HBO? I'm still new to AMC being in Canada so not familiar with the programming. I just find it contradicts itself by showing R-rated gore but PG rated sex/coarse language.

Elbaz13, you and I don't see it but our American friends must every day look at thier money and see IN GOD WE TRUST written on it.  One of thier first constitutional rights was the right to bear arms, so violence and gore is ok, but things that are frowned upon in the presence of god such as nudtity which is considered a vulgar sin and curse words and blasphemy are much worse than blowing someones brains out there head in slow motion........or doing it to a child even............funny system hey?  As long as divine creators are referenced on a culture's monetary system then I find it highly unlikely you're going to see a relaxing of the way they view nudity and language vs. violence and death.

Joe you are pretty awesome dude, coming on here and retorting and thanking us for thanking you!  Such a rarity that a writer and critic would come on the threads and defend his position and even give credit to those who oppose you!  I'm glad you are the one on this series, it makes it a lot more fun to talk about knowing that you are reading!

I want to weigh in on this comic vs. tv show arguement.  I believe Kirkman is loving this opportunity to take the other fork in the road, while also hoping to keep this fresh for everyone, especially the fans who've read the books!  I can really get behind that because if I had read the books first, I wouldn't be as pleased with the show knowing every scene that was coming, I really applaude Kirkman for doing that.  Also, now I can read the books and also not know every scene that is coming.  Some of you may slag him for being a money whore and changing the story because he's paid to or whatever, but I actually think that he is going along with the changes so that all his fans, new and old can get into both formats without having them spoiled by an existing storyline that refuses to change.

I was there with everyone else bitching about the speed of this current season (as well as other minor gripes) but now I feel very thankful for what it is, a superb show that keeps us all talking and guessing long after the episode has aired.  Not many shows are in that category!!!

This episode was everything that makes this show one of the greatest ever.  Tense, well-written, multiple characters and plotlines without overloading the viewer, emotionally poignant and gutrenching drama, moral dilemmas, a little action, and a surprise twist or two.

It's going to be a LONG 2 months until this show returns!

Long live the Dead!

Elbaz and Wish,

Just F*CKING chill with the negative gun-totting stereotyppe bullS*T, There is that enough swearing for you? Sure it's in our constitution, and at the time it was relevant, and the media focuses on the 3 out of 50 nut-jobs that love guns because it makes better news, but don't tell me you "superior" Canuck intelects doesn't alert you to the fact that it is a stereotype and MANY MANY MANY Americans are not gun toting lunatics. Stop being @$$ Holes.

We're fine with nudity in the US, but not on regular TV. F-bombs and T&A are reserved for pay cable. Sorry AMC isn't a pay cable site that shows tits and says F*ck.

Stay off your high horse, and be as open minded as the rest of the world claims to be...

ElBaz13 11/29/2011 12:21:05 PM

uh?chill gauleyboy.

I was in no way coming to flame americans. As I said, I'm not familiar with AMC's programming and thought it was a cable station with no boundaries. In Canada, I'm paying an extra premium for this station and is not part of basic cable packages. To make a comparison, we have Showcase station as part of this package and shows stuff uncut. Violence, nudity, coarse language, etc...I honestly thought they were at the same level. I just find it odd we're getting R-rated violence the other stuff is PG. I keep thinking of many years ago, back in my VHS renting days and renting a copy of Day of the Dead. It was the reverse. The VHS release was heavily edited to remove the violence/gore to bring it to an R instead of unrated but the language/nudity in it was intact. Kind of the reverse at the time. Funny how it's flipped around in 25 years.

I thought AMC had more to it than that and unlike the big four networks in the US. But now I realize it's in between major network TV and the others (HBO/Starz).

Bryzarro 11/29/2011 12:26:45 PM

@ElBaz13 what does being in Canada have to do with not being used to AMC.  It's not HBO or Starz.  The content of Walking Dead isn't a curse filled or nudity or sex filled show.  Think about it.  Are you really clamouring to see half nude or fully nude zombies walking around?

They are in a Zombie apocolypse.  I think in my mind survival fits in before sex.  And weighing in on the comics portion tell me what issues of Walking Dead and where you have seen gratuitous sex or nudity in print.

Its a network show.  Get over it.  If thats a complaint that you have then stick to the books.  You've obviously watched Season 1 so after 6 episodes of that this season couln't have been a shock that the language is as tame as it is.

Bryzarro 11/29/2011 12:29:48 PM

Oh and I make the point as I live in Toronto.  My whole life and AMC to me isn't an HBO type network.  HBO here is tied to the Movie Network which is an extra Premium.  AMC is part of my regular cable line up.  I see your reference to Showcase.  Showcase also shows softcore or baby blue movies.  AMC doesn't so again.  No comparison.
