Great episode!  Although as a hispanic, I do get tired of seeing us always portray the idiot gang members who don't think and are just out to take advantage of weaker people.  It was great to see that get turned on it's head in this episode.  I loved the part where the abuelita (little grandmother)  comes in and unknowingly saves everyone's asses from blowing each other to bits.

One big question I have is where are they going to end this series?  I assumed it would be after the scene Johhwhitetoledo spoiler alerted above.  But I'm not seeing any setup for that.  Rick hasn't been at the camp at all so Shane hasn't been able to resent his presence.  I doubt they can develop that enough in the next two episodes in order to bring us to that conclusion.  So where will they end it?

MrOptimus: they actually do have trip lines set up around the camp , you see them in the last episode. The question is more of why they werent set off, Maybe it was Merle, maybe he did load them in the Box truck  and drove them up the hill or maybe the Geeks could smell his fresh wound and followed him back to camp, but I think we are going to see how some of that went down in the next episode. They seem to anticapate  our questions like they did with Merle on the roof top, everyone screamed about him cutting off his hand and they turned around and said ok the blade was to dull to cut through the cuffs. The show seems to be smart enough to answer questions while progressing the story and makes sense for our group to know hwre they come from or decide that the geeks are getting to close and its time to move on

First, welcome back, Joe!  Second, I'm going to be trite and say YO JOE!

Again, not being familiar with the comics, I have to assume that there will be a payoff to showing us the booby traps and triplines earlier and not having them go off.

I kind of figured that Jim's digging was going to be some sort of prescient action, and I was right.  And why not?  This is a world where the dead come back to life.

So sad about Amy.  Not only was she hot, but the anguish from her sister was palpable.

Ya I watched again and it was a red shirt that looked a lot like Shane in the quick motions of the battle.  I was worried that they were going to change such a serious scene from the stories, but it looks like they are still on track with Shane's story.  I am like you Lobo, I really like Norman Reedus as Darryl...even though he is a redneck, he has a bit of a brain in his head and has common sense.

gauley - I had an issue last week too with posting but I found the site seems to hate two things.  1. long rows of consecutive asterix's or hyphens and 2. website lings or anything containing dot com

Before I comment on the episode, I do want to take a minute to thank the Mania staff for switching back to full reviews for this show.  The TV Round-Up was the stupidiest idea ever, and we ripped into you guys for it, but it's nice to see you took that to heart and gave us what we were looking for.

As for the episode:  holy freakin' crap!!  It was so good!  And I was legitimately surprised by the zombie attack at the end.  After spending four hours cautiously watching every dark corner of the screen, the series still managed to lull me into a false sense of security before ripping the rug out from under me.  The attack at the end of the episode was truly horrific, and not in the gore=horror way so many modern horror films seem to ascribe to (although there was a lot of gore).

Why oh why are there only two episodes left?

and @ Jakester - I completely agree, the actress playing Andrea gave an amazing performance.  Her grief is really what sold the moment.  But I also spent half the scene thinking "Don't get her blood on you, you're gonna get infected!"

I also assume there's some sort of reason the camp was suddenly attacked by a swarm of walkers after being pretty safe up until then, right?  Comic readers, don't spoil it for me, a simple yes or no will do :-)

Good to have a legitimate article back in the Mania site rather than another Top 20 Reasons Why Mania Sucks article. With that said, great episode. The tension was well played out and didn't feel forced, the new characters blended seamlessly with ones we've known from the comic, and I'm glad that the show is different than the comic, but still retains key pieces and scenes.

Joe, Rick's hat isn't an ode to Indiana Jones. It's a sign of maturity and manhood, and something he gives Carl (much like the gun) to show how much trust he has in his son. It's an important piece of the comic that I'm glad was brought back into play.

The Walking Dead is the best thing on TV for the last past 10 years PERIOD.  Lost?  Heros?  LAME.  The Walking Dead wastes them all.  This episode was so awesome.  Walking Dead is the ultra bomb!!  The only thing that has me more excited than season 2 of the Walking Dead is Game of Thrones.  THAT is going to kick even the Walking Dead's ass!  :D

I also with gauleyboy420!!!  This commenting system licks balls.  No editing and my comments get eaten all the fukking time!!!  Change the commenting system now please.  It licks goat choad.

This has absolutely replaced Lost now that it is gone.  I love this show.  Not one gripe.  Well, one.  They said "tough as nails" twice in the show.  So, two characters are tough as nails.  I found it kind of distracting.  And, despite the fact I've read most of the series, it still remains full of surprises.  I like that they are not rushing through it.  However, that said, waiting a full year for the series to return is going to be painful.  Hope it maintains it audience and gathers more on DVD.

MrOptimusPrime:  I agree.  Second gripe.  Fist fry, loud talking, fire, zombies roaming...no one on watch?  That was a stupid.
