"Wall-E" gets a plot!

According to Jim Hill, the upcoming Pixar film, Wall-E, finds Earth as a floating trash heap in space.

Jim Hill writes:

Earth in fact has become so toxic that -- centuries before our story actually gets underway -- mankind has abandoned the planet. We're now all living aboard the Axiom, this massive spaceship that circles high overhead. Waiting for the day that the planet once again becomes inhabitable.

But the only problem is that mankind hired this enormous, inept corporation -- Buynlarge -- to supervise the clean-up effort. And that company -- in turn -- sent hundreds of thousands of robots down to the planet's surface to pick up all of the trash.

But Buynlarge's Waste Allocation Load Lifters -- Earth Class units really weren't up to the task. And so -- over the centuries -- these robots slowly began breaking down. Until now (as the film's story finally, officially gets underway) there's only one WALL E left running on the entire planet.

And so every morning, this WALL E powers up and then tries to accomplish the task that he's been programmed to do. Which is pick up all of the trash that's been scattered around the Earth. It's obviously an impossible job. But still this robot (with the help of his pet cockroach, Spot) does what he can every day.

But here's the thing, folks ...
Read the rest of the plot synopsis over here ... there's a lot more.

KJ's Take:  Pixar, I love you.  Seriously, you are god's gift to animated stories.  The fact that the first third of this film is practically a silent movie is just flat out daring, and who better to pull it off than Pixar.   Great news, great story, I can't friggin wait.

great news I agree, I am not a huge fan of animation movies, some of them was ok, but that story line sound very good, I m in !

I enjoy toy story, incredibles and maybe Monsters and Bug s life but nemo and cars was too much for me...i stop in the middle...

As a dad i love Pixar even more... I mean if it wasn't for them I would be watching Barney and the Wiggles non stop instaed of Toy Story and Incredibles.

Oh, and this sounds awesome as well... even Ratatouille... normally I would steer clear of a film like this, but in Pixar we trust.

This sounds great. Much more inventive than Robots plot. Pixar has never disappointed me and I'll be at the theaters for this one just like I have been for the rest. I can't wait for my 4 month old to be old enough to enjoy these films with me. Ditto madmanic ... I definitely don't want to be watching Barney and the Wiggles.

Pixar is, indeed, God's Gift to Parents. I took Junior to Elmo's Adventures in Grouchland as his first film. Ugh. We both hated it. Then we saw Finding Nemo, and we both had a great time. The film left such an impact on him, he now dreams of becoming an ichthyologist!
I am all about this film.

Now this is a great STORY! I am actually excited to to see this film. I loved BL, TS 1&2, The Incredibles....Nemo and Cars where not that great for me.....but this story sounds awesome. Pixar is my favorite CGI studio, they are great....and I was worried about them joining Disney.....but with TS3 and this movie.....it looks like they really know how to make great movies.

Why does habitable and inhabitable mean the same thing...?

Pixar is great. I just wish that Disney would do more 2D animation, but after their recent releases... I understand why they didn't want to. Look at the 90's releases compared to 2000's. I guess that's why Eisner fired all those animators (even though it was mainly his fault).

I hear that they are going back to do 2D again with The Frog Princess. What they gotta understand is that it's not just the 3D graphics why we go to theaters... it's the storyline and characters.
