Date: Monday, June 11, 2007

Sideshow Collectibles and New Line Cinema will release later in the year their second entry in the series of The Lord of the Rings Dioramas. The Walls of Helm's Deep Diorama captures Aragorn in the heat of battle, as he turns from one attacker to another with grim resolve. The Uruk-hai berserker is slain, but before Aragorn can dispatch the ladder, he must face a ferocious swordsman.

The diorama has been sculpted in approximately 1:9 scale, each figure standing approximately 9.5 inches tall. Each piece is cast in high quality polystone, hand-finished, and hand-painted to exacting standards. The Walls of Helm's Deep Diorama is complete with a hand-numbered individual edition number on the bottom side of the base.

The item will ship in the 4th quarter of 2007 and it carries a price of $ 254.99.

I like the quality of the paints and the textures, but the pose is just plain silly from the one angle we have to see it in. It looks like Aragorn's trying to teach an Uruk how to square dance while another bellows out the song...

"Now all join hands and circle left!"

And as we always say, the cost is a bit prohibitive, too. 9" tall is nice, but the cost should be around $150 at the absolute most, in my opinion.

Found some other angles:

It doesn't look as bad as the hand-holding angle shown above, but I definitely agree with you, galaga, he's not showing any sense of urgency in his stance. His face looks pretty good, though.

Yes, Aragorn's stance and expression (from the resolution and angle) do not appear to show him in a sense of urgency.
