Miranda Otto (THE LORD OF THE RINGS) and Tim Robbins (MYSTIC RIVER) are in discussions to join the cast of THE WAR OF THE WORLDS. They would join Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning in the Steven Spielberg directed picture, scheduled to commence filming next month.
Otto would play the wife of Cruise's character while Robbins would play an astronomer named Ogilvy. The David Koepp script is a modern day translation of the H.G. Wells science fiction novel, just as the George Pal movie set the action in that era's present day (the 1950s).
Otto can next be seen starring in Fox's remake of FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX.
