Warner Bros adapting "Sherlock Holmes"

According to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures will adapt Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic, Sherlock Holmes, for the big screen.

Neil Marshall has signed on to direct the film based on a script from Michael Johnson.

The exact storyline is being kept under wraps, but creative executives at Warners say they are looking for the "Sherlock" team to reinvent the sleuth and his loyal No. 2 Dr. Watson in much the same edgy way that Christopher Nolan has re-imagined Batman for the studio.

The comic shines a more adventuresome (think Indiana Jones) light on the character of Sherlock Holmes and includes him bare knuckle boxing as well as being an expert swordsman.

KJ's Take:  So long as the mysteries are well thought out and intriguing, then I'm sold.

I tell you How it will look like....The prestige...They love to recreate that s old london atmosphere, with the costume and the strange story...Think about the league of extrao...the illusionist, the van hesling, from hell, oliver twist...I don t mind actually if it s done correctly, Using east europe make better result than studio....

Ya know this could work, this duo reimagined could be cool... now hopfully next they will do an edgier version of Ernie and Bert, something gritty about the underbelly of life on sesame street.

It's been a while since there has been a Sherlock Holmes movie or television series. I remember watching the underrated Young Sherlock Holmes when I was a teenager. It might be time to make one for a new generation.

I used to love Sherlock Holmes when I was a kid and the stories never really get old so this is cool.

My knowledge of the character isn't all that wealthy, but wasn't he already an expert swordsman?

Could be worth a ticket. Not sure if bare knuckle fist fighting is the way to go for the super sleuth, but I'll give it a chance

well, he probably does that old school fist fighting with his fists pointing forward. Then again maybe he fights like Mickey in Snatch.

I was just thinking the other day that we were do for a good Sherlock Holmes movie or tv show.

Here we go. I hope its good as I love the Doyle's stories.

I think this sounds great, especially if they keep the audience involved in the mystery, too, so we can try to figure out the clues as the movie progresses.

ehhhhhh, this sounds like a big mistake waiting to happen. The late Jeremy Brett is the only Sherlock Holmes worth discussing.

Man, I love SH and I agree that this could be good if the stories are well done. I just hope it is made for an adult audience and not geared toward kids. I haven't read the source material, but it sounds good to me.
