Warner Bros. have secured the film rights to Wendy and Richard Pini's 'Elfquest' for development as a feature film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Rawson Thurber ('Dodgeball) is set to write, direct and produce the film. It's unclear whether plans call for a live-action or animated treatment of the material.
'Elfquest' is an enduring indie comic that was launched by the Pini's in 1978 under their self-publishing imprint Warp Graphics. It tells the tale of tribes of Elfs and other mythological creatures. There have been many attempts to get the project going as a feature film, the most recent being an animated feature.
Courtenay Valenti is overseeing for Warners.
