I've laughed at some pretty harsh racist jokes in my time. I think its just hard to get the tone of something over the net. I've heard many in the tone of laughing at the ridiculousness of such stereotypes and I ;ve heard some tell jokes and elicit a laugh were you don't know if someone is laughing cause they know its ridiculous or they actually believe the stereotypes the jokes promote. Now I know most stereotypes hold some basis in reality, but when we still live in a country were many people know only of the stereotype and believe it applies to a whole group of people, I think you do have to be careful. JMO.

As for this move by DC, lets hope this helps in finally getting many of its major characters finally on screen. Wonder Woman is long overdue. And no one is gonna convince me that SR was a complete bust and there is a need for a reboot. WarCry, I understand were your coming from a bit. At the end of the day, its a freaking guy in a batsuit. People can preach "gritty, dark and realistic" all you want. I love TDK as well. But its still a freaking guy prancing around in a batsuit!!!!!

  Yeah, I have to say, first off, I apologize for my stereotyping and assumption Wiseguy because I'll be the first to admit I thought you were a white dude. It really shouldn't matter though. I mean, I always thought that, that was one of the cool things about the internet. You really don't know who you are acutally conversing with so all your preconceptions go out the window. At least that`s the theory, but it obviously doesn't work in practice because as soon as a topic of race comes up, lines tend to be drawn or at least the way people answer tend to lean towards their respective races.
  Saying that though, if the topic was music, you could never tell. I`m black and stereotypically I'm supposed to love hiphop and R&b, which I do, but I'd trade every hiphop album I ever bought witht he exception of Tougher then Leather and License to Ill for an original copy of Metallica`s Black Album.
  Anyway, I`m rambling. On the topic of  DC, and Batman, I just don't get the whole  issue about Nolan's "gritty, dark and realistic" take on Bats. When besides the campy tv show was Batman a ray of sunshine? He has always been dark, gritty and to an extent realistic.  Realistic comapred to an amazonian with a lasso and invisible jet, an alien who can fly and see through shit, and a guy who controls green shit through a ring. Batman is probably the most realistic DC character there is. So I don't get it. I don't want to see happy go lucky, yellow bat symbol, grey tights and purple boots Batman. Watch Adam West reruns.

I'm like Clarence Thomas, not saying that I'm black, my race will remain a state secret, but like Thomas my views don't conform to my "people's" general views. Some consider me a traitor or misguided. Kind of like Thomas has been shunned by many blacks. But my views remain steadfast. I refuse to favor people, including my own, based on anything or to restrict speech for political correctness. And I view my people as all Americans not any ethnic or racial group and put them ahead of anyone else regardless of origin, race or belief. Anyway now, I'm rambling

Anyway, I laugh cause when people assume based on my views, doesn't that mean they're also stereotyping. I enjoy the irony in that

Wiseguy's going for the racial humor, and yet _he's_ getting all huffy.  But anytime anyone goes for that racial stuff they're treading on thin ice, just because it's too easy to go from well-meant humor to the kind that actually comes from racist bullshit.

Wiseguy mentions Family Guy but that show's completely over-rated.  The great comics who actually can do this kind of humor successfully have great instincts about exactly where they can go, and where they can't.  That's why they're great.  

If there's one thing I've learned though, it's that you can't tell people who don't like racial humor to "lighten up".  It's basically like telling them to swallow your load.  No one's going to do it because they don't want to be your bitch, and you come off like a jerk.

Anyway wiseguy, I don't care if you're white, black, asian, hispanic or whatever.  Just leave the young boys alone, because it's against the law and it's wrong.  Also, that big harness setup in your bedroom you have so that gauleyboy can lower a horse down onto you Catherine the Great style is illegal, so get rid of it, and never do it again.

And as for The Dark Knight -- Nolan's the best thing to happen to DC's movies since the original Superman, as far as I'm concerned.  I just don't want the comics to be turned into nothing but drawn advertisements for the movies.  

And as far as Nolan's Batman being true to the comics goes, at the very beginning when Bob Kane was drawing him, he was dark and gritty as all hell -- at least as far as you could do it in the 1940s.

But that harness was a gift from you, and you know how much you like it. I guess you have something new for the next time you want to get plowed right? Come on don't keep me guessing you tease. And bring your mama again, I liked the threesome we had last time, I had never seen a senior citizen toss her own son's salad. It was amazing

I am not asking that for Adam's West Batman. I just think its limiting when I hear "this villain can''t be used" or "No Robin" because it won't fit in Nolan's vision of Batman. Not saying any of these are his words. But that is sort of the direction he's clearly been going in. IMO, Robin is apart of Batman's lore.
