Warner Bros. has officially announced the postponement of Darren Aronofsky's THE FOUNTAIN, following last week's decision by Brad Pitt to depart the project just a few weeks sly of formal production.
In an official statement, the studio said, "Although we are disappointed not to be moving forward with THE FOUNTAIN right now, we remain committed to working with the film's director, Darren Aronofsky, a filmmaker with unique vision and exceptional taste."
Another project Aronofsky currently has in development at Warner Bros. is the big screen adaptation of Frank Miller's classic comic, BATMAN: YEAR ONE.
Pitt, in the same statement, was quoted about THE FOUNTAIN, "Given my friendship and respect for Darren and the year and a half we've dedicated to working on this project, I too am disappointed. Still, I remain encouraged that THE FOUNTAIN will yet have its day."
We'll see.
