Warner Bros has set executive producer Kurt Sutter (FX's The Shield) to write and direct a remake to the 1973 kung fu classic, ENTER THE DRAGON, starring Bruce Lee. The remake will be titled AWAKEN THE DRAGON to be produced by John Wells, Fred Weintraub and Paul Heller. Sutter has indicated that he is adapting the classic story as a contemporized drama about a lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs.

"I'm a huge noir fan, and this plot lends itself to the film I want to make," Sutter said. "I wanted to set it in these underground fight clubs where the action is really raw and expose the brutality of Shaolin kung fu. This will be more 'Raging Bull' than 'Crouching Tiger' in its viciousness."

I Agree not only is this an insult to memory and legacy of Bruce Lee but the plot already has the quality of a bad movie. The keywords are "underground martial arts fight clubs." Where havent we heard these words from? Havent we seen enough of these? I mean Van Dame alone has run the fight club storyline to death! I myself, am tired and sick of it. Bruce Lee was more original than that. If your gonna try to make a decent flick try to improve on his last movie by finishing it. A standin possibly with a CGI face of Bruce Lee I would rather see. We can have Dan Inosanto as an advisor. Don't cover greatness with crap that you think is greatness. Remember Bruce wanted things done right and they were atleast satisfactory to him. This movie is being produced just for the ratings. It will lack the greatest ingredient of all, Spirit.

Well at least they're changing the title so non-smart people unlike us won't realize its a remake and be as enraged as we are.. They make it sound like it would focus on John Saxons character more than anything.

heres an idea for all you producers and directors. Get your own damn ideas, stop remaking every movie that came out 20 or more years ago.

Really. Lately the only news coming out of Hollywood is remake this or remake that. Get a grip and get your own ideas.

Besides, 'Enter the Dragon' was good, but who here can say that they loved it for the story and not because Bruce Lee was in it. Unless they can find a martial artist who can truly blow the minds of everybody like Bruce did back in the day, don't waste our time with this. It'll be an insult to Bruce and to all of us that know better.

In the immortal words of Will Smith:

Awww "hail" no!

"Enter" is the Citizen Kane of martial arts and WHY would they need to remake it? It's such bullsh!t. It's gonna be real interesting to see who they pick for the lead. And I get a sick feeling it's not going to be an asian lead this time because a lead "asian" is not going to be marketable. This is EXACTLY what Bruce Lee fought against in Hollywood; cheapening the spiritual of the martial arts. F*cking sacks of...

I have to jump on the "Hatewagon" because this is some utter bullshit! Enter the Dragon is such a classic martial arts flick. And you are right wasradone, its basically a classic because of Bruce Lee. I actually like The Big Boss and Way of the Dragon better.
remaking this movie is like remaking the wheel square. It serves no damn purpose.
Why don`t they actually finish Game of Death and release it in theaters? I`d pay to see that. Not this shite!
