A new day, a new science fiction movie project to talk about. This time it's THE WILD, an original concept to be written by assistant-turned-screenwriter Tim Rollins. Rollins had been working for screenwriter David Self (ROAD TO PERDITION), who had an idea for a film about the worst case scenario for genetic engineering, but couldn't quite crack the nut to turn the concept into a fleshed out script. Enter Rollins who took Self's premise and constructed a deeper storyline surrounding it.
The movie is now set up at Warner Bros. where Self and Tom Engleman (THE LAST SAMURAI) will produce the picture.
Speaking to Variety, Self described the concept for THE WILD as follows: "The idea is that humankind, or what is left of it, has been evacuated off the planet after a corporation introduced a genetically engineered food crop that caused animals to mutate into these cool but scary creatures."
