Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the rights to Derek Landy's upcoming children's book series SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT.

Landy will adapt his novel, which went on sale in April, into a script.  The book series could total nine books in all.

Set in contemporary Dublin, the story revolves around a wisecracking skeleton detective named Skulduggery Pleasant and his young accomplice Stephanie, who together must prevent an attempt to bring back the evil Faceless Ones.

Doesn't really sound like a "KIDS" story, but hey,,,,sounds kind of cool. I do like wise cracking skeletons, only if its done right, of course.

Interesting. Anyone read this?

Sounds like a great vehicle for director Tim Burton's stop motion animation with Johnny Depp lending his voice to the title character.

Interesting. Wisecracking skeleton detective. And from the looks of the picture, perhaps he has some magical ability?

Hey, sounds like it has some potential. And, much more appealing than the live action cartoons such as Underdog. Something that both adults and children can appreciate. Seems like a book trying to fill the gap at the end of the Potter series.
