Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver have hired Justin Marks (VOLTRON, GREEN ARROW) to write the live-action version of HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE.

Marks will work from a story that was developed by himself and Neil Ellice.  The story will center on a warrior who is touted as the last hope of a magical land called Eternia, which is being ravaged by technology and a despotic ruler named Skeletor.

Joel Silver will produce.  Neil Ellice will co-produce.

Mattel will have to formally approve an outline for the project to officially move forward. In 1987, Cannon Films produced a live-action film Masters of the Universe, which featured Dolph Lundgren in the role of He-Man.

When I was a kid I always thought Skeletor was so cool looking. But I just think a live action would look stupid. Hope I'm wrong.

If they try not to make this look like the cartoon and they change the environment and the plot, hell I might just give this a try. Maybe.

This is clearly a bad idea, but the 80's kid in me who grew up on He-Man cant help but be excited!

I thought Adam Rifkin (writer of Underdog) was going to write this.

Perhaps Joel Silver saw Underdog and made the decision to go with someone else. I don't blame him one bit if that is the case.

I actually liked the 1987 live action film with Dolph Lundgren. It was fun to watch and is better than you remember. Maybe they will do it again with better visual effects.

I liked the 87 version as well. I think Frank Langella did a great job as Skeletor. I'm looking forward to this, I was disappointed when Woo shelved it. The hard part will be finding the perfect cast for He-man. I hope it all works out. With Transformers and this, all we need now is a Thundercats and GI Joe movie.

As child of the 80's I really enjoyed toys &
movie for most part I think should put around black skeletor's eyes, among other thing's I still
cripe about the 87 movie.

fast forward to present 2002 Masters Of The
Universe was re-introduced
Of course the toys failed miserably. and alot want this movie? I don't understand the need for this? Its going to suck, they won't follow the orignal mini comics came with the toys , which were very dark , which I loved. This going to be a waste of time and yes there are fanatic fanboys that want this.
no matter how crappy it is.
The 80's are over with, that is a fact.
If they make like cartoon series which was pure crap. then forget it.
A ThunderCats Movie would be better Than Motu , forget Gi Joe
The script really sucks

FINALLY, a REAL Masters of the Universe movie!

The 1987 movie was so far removed from the established Masters mythos.

I can't wait to see this. This sounds AWESOME.

'Bout time!

Joel where is Logan's Run, remember you promised us that some time ago. Why go after more titles when you haven't finished the ones you already have.

What I really liked about the 87 movie was Frank Langella's performance. He had all the best lines.

Skeletor: "The Alpha... and the Omega... death and rebirth... and as you die, so will I be reborn!"
