According to Walt Disney Pictures, Warwick Davis has signed on to play the role of Nikabrik, the Black Dwarf, in the upcoming film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

In the film, to be directed and adapted by Andrew Adamson, the Pevensie siblings return to Narnia, where they are enlisted to once again help ward off an evil king and restore the rightful heir to the land's throne, Prince Caspian.

Warwick will join a cast including Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Anna Popplewell, William Moseley, Ben Barnes, Alicia Borrachero, Peter Dinklage and Vincent Grass, as well as Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.

Principal photography for the film begins next week.  Prince Caspian is set to hit theaters on May 16, 2008.

KJ's Take:  Talk about an actor who must love doing fantasy films:  Star Wars, Harry Potter, Narnia, Hitchhiker's Guide, Willow, etc.  I'm glad to see him get the role, Willow holds a place near and dear to my heart.  That film turned me onto fantasy.

This is FANTASTIC news!!! I love this guy. He's like the uber-Sci Fi loving dwarf. Love him!

Any time they call for someone of a short stature I always think of Davis. He puts his all into it and his presence in this movie will make it all the better.

Oh and KJ Willow is close to my heart too. Val Kilmer was awesome in it.

Great news. And it's not the first experience Davis has with Narnia; he played Reepicheep in the television version of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

KJ..I hate to say this but his size above all plays a big role in what kind of work he is going to get hollywood...You will not see him in to many movies other than the fantasy type and that is a shame but that is just how it is...Plus he is one of the few talented dwarf actors out there so this bids well for him because it keeps him working, that is when a fantasy movie is being made and alot are being made these days so we might get to see more of him...I have liked him for a long time also, going all the way back to willow. The other dwarf actor I like and I can't remember his name but he had showed up on the Seinfeld sitcom as Frasiers little buddy..he would do good in fantasy movies as well..

I guess all you sci-fi/fantasy fans never saw Davis in the movie "Ray". He does more than just sci-fi/fantasy movie. Also, did we forget the "Leprachaun" movies?

msglover...Ok, you mentioned one movie that was not fantasy and three others that most people would not have known it was him not to mention he probably would like it if we all forgot about Leprachaun!

Anyone catch him on "Extras"? good to see him having such a long career.

fenngibbon, you beat me to it! Davis was great as Reepicheep. Just seeing him associated with Narnia a second time is enough to get me stoked for this film even more. And ditto for KJ's comment on Willow. That film will forever rock. It's a shame none of the sequel books were filmed for him to star in.

Hey KJ,
At what point do you, as the editor, decide to stop being a "comment machine" and start actually editing?

Example from Columnist Stephen Lackey's review of The Sarah Silverman Program:

"Now, the one thing that will be interesting to see a is just how ridiculous The Sarah Silverman Program gets before it finally is canceled,"
and
"Even the other comedians in the series dont real opportunities to be funny."

Me edit good so not but atl east spell chek i try
use. Maybe meye editer shuld do bettr job and make comment much less.

Wasn't Davis also in at least one of the Harry Potter movies? I can't say I'm surprised. After all, Davis has been in quite a few sci fi and fantasy films. I still think Willow is criminally underrated. It was certainly than Eragon.

Great news! I am looking forward to this sequel. I am quite impressed with the series so far and looking forward to the next installment.
