The Review
Sex toys . . . Nuff Said!

The front cover depicts the main character from the story 'My Neighbor', on her back in a compromising position. Her school uniform is provocatively rearranged, and my only complaint is the font color used for the authors name disappears into the girls skin color. The back cover shows a sexy redhead using a sexual enhancer incognito style. The print quality is solid throughout. The extras in this title consist of three full-page pictures of characters from the book and short descriptions of what is happening. A cool addition is artwork printed directly on the inner cover flap of both the front and back covers, so there isn't a single page from front to back without text or art. There is also a glossary explaining honorifics and an extensive Japanese language 'Pronunciation Guide'

Matsuzawa's artwork may be my favorite among the Icarus titles I have reviewed to date. There is a great deal of variety among the characters of this title. Both male and female characters range from younger to older; with younger men and older women, to older men and younger women, so I felt a good deal of fantasies were covered. The female characters are attractive and span a fair number of body types. My only complaint was the shading for the hair color was the same for every female character. However, there was a surprising amount of background detail and scene establishing panels for this genre.

The panel layout throughout the book also has a fair amount of variety. Lead up scenes tend to stick to a square, cinematic style that move along at a measured pace. During the sex scenes, the panel layout switches to angular and irregular shapes, smattered with full-page pictures and even some 1.5 page pictures in centerfold style. This change in panel shape successfully gives a feeling of action and motion to the flow of the story.

The translation reads well and honorifics are prevalent. A few grammar errors popped up from time to time. The Japanese SFX remains but lacks an English translation.

Contents: (Oh yes, there may be spoilers)
This book collects ten short stories and spans a fair amount of sexual acts and situations. But the one thing they almost all share in common is the implementation of sexual enhancers, or to be blunt, Sex Toys. Apparently, the author is a big fan.

Awkward Feelings: This story examines the relationship between school friends that have grown up together. Honda is your average guy, and he's attracted to a classmate named Sudou. She seems to be oblivious of Honda's infatuation, which goes as far as stealing Sudou's handkerchief and panties. Honda's long-time friend Miyazawa really likes him but Honda is completely hung up on Sudou. This love triangle may just be shattered when Miyazawa catches Honda masturbating with Sudou's handkerchief. Will Miyazawa rat Honda out? Will Honda try to bribe Miyazawa?

After School: Oh, the naughty schoolgirl and male teacher scenario. Well Sensei is attracted to his best student Rio. One day Rio asks her Sensei to walk her home because it got dark while she was working on class representative paper work. He agrees, even though he knows he shouldn't. Well it turns out Rio is actually a very naughty little minx. She had already noticed Sensei's inappropriate stares and invites him into her home. She's even naughtier than we thought when we discover she's been at school all day with a particular sex toy tucked in her panties all day. Will Sensei play it smart and walk away? Is it a damned if you do damned if you don't situation, since Rio could blackmail her Sensei?

Twins System: Every man alive as dreamed about the trouble he could get into with identical twins. Keiichi often has his friend Marika over to hang out. One day Marika's twin sister, Maria, accompanies her sister to Keiichi's house for dinner. Afterwards, Maria confronts the truth behind Keiichi and Marika's relationship. It seems Marika is quite a fan of sex toys and Keiichi is all too quick to offer himself up as an observer. Maria is shocked at her sister's blatant exhibitionism, but at the same time strangely turned on. Will Maria run away in shame or take full advantage of the situation?

Sketch Book: Art teachers always were a little strange. One day Kashida's art teacher, Koshimizu Sensei, accidentally finds his drawings depicting her when she wasn't looking. She's impressed with his talent and even more with his cuteness. So, Koshimizu Sensei slips out of her clothes and orders Kashida to draw her. Being an obedient student, Kashida does as he's told, only he adds himself to the picture. The depiction of Kashida and Koshimizu Sensei in a most improper manner is enough to push Koshimizu Sensei beyond the point of no return. Will Kashida be a real man afterwards? What about his art, will he be a better artist or become an ero-mangaka?

Ten short stories in this book means there are ten (actually eleven if you count the twins) different vixens competing to be your favorite 'Any way I want it' girl. These mostly buxom women range from classmates, to the girl next door, to librarians and teachers. In many of the stories, the author does a nice job of setting up the sex. Meaning, there are plausible reasons for these characters to be getting it on. Overall, this is a good title for readers who enjoy ero-manga with good, consistent art and stories where all the characters are willing participants.

On another note, Icarus continues to impress me with quality printing title after title, which is interesting in the cost category. Icarus prints porn, which is a niche market, therefore the books are twice the cost of most mainstream manga from the big publishers. Yet, I believe $20 is a fair price for the larger format and every single Icarus book I own has impeccable printing from start to finish. Sure, the paper is a little thin, but the fact that the printing is always good (not faded, not smeared, not too dark) really makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with the quality of books from the big publishing houses? Titles from the big boys can be a real mixed bag when it comes to print quality, and everyone one of those publishers have printing issues on a somewhat regular basis. I don't know, I just want to give props to Icarus and maybe more specifically to the printers Icarus contracts with.

Overall Hotness (1 to 5): 5:G-spot Rocker!!
