Following months of speculation following the departure of director Chris Columbus from the HARRY POTTER series, Alfonso Cuaron (A LITTLE PRINCESS) has snagged the job of directing HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN.
Columbus, who directed last year's HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE and this November's HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, decided to leave the directing chores for the third film to another director after three years of constant work bringing the first two J.K. Rowlings books to the screen.
It seems, despite the director change, production for AZKABAN is charging ahead just as fast as the last two. SECRETS started shooting before the first POTTER film was released, and Cuaron will start shooting AZKABAN next January, two months after SECERTS is released.
It's expected to hit the screens for summer 2004.
