According to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures is looking to make a feature film based on the comic super team, Justice League.

Since its inception in 1960, JLA has featured almost every major hero in the DC Comics universe, although the core team has largely remained the same: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter.

"The Justice League of America has been a perennial favorite for generations of fans, and we believe their appeal to film audiences will be as strong and diverse as the characters themselves," Warner president Jeff Robinov said.

The studio wouldn't confirm which heroes will be in the film.

KJ's Take:  I like this idea and I'm excited for the film, but I'll never love the idea unless Bale and Routh sign on.

Sorry, but this will never work. JL is great animated and great in comics, however as seen on smallville, it is not going to work. I agree with KJ, if they DO make it, use bale and routh....but I really hope this just dies. To many heros and not enough screen time. It would be a complete waste, and they would have to make 10 movies to do it "justice" (get it? Justice?) Anywho....it takes three years now to make a good special effects induced movie....it is not worth it.

we have debated this topic on aicn already and im still gonna have to say, the oonly way this can work is if the movie is done in CGI... not live action

It seems like someone from WB has been reading cinescape/mania cause this idea has been kicked around a bit here. I wonder if they are going to have the Wonder Twins, Ha ha! Anyway, I agree with theCollector, this movie could easily end up a train wreck.

Good positive comments guys.... hmmmm, what if it worked, I agree that since Warner owns the DC franchises what if after the next Batman and next Superman they said screw third movies lets slap the Supes and Bats in the same movie as the main characters and throw Lantern, Flash and Wonderwomen into the mix. A solid story with a solid villain/villains could be sweet. Hell Batman and Supermans clashing styles and obvious eventual headbutting over team leadership would be worth ten bucks. It is a unique and interesting formula that has driven the comic for years.

I'm with madmanic999 on this one. Marvel has shown that a group movie can do well. We've already had the origin stories for Batman and Superman, so very little background needs to be given for them. Which gives more story time. A good solid showing could also build some interest in some new solo projects for the likes of Green Lantern, the Flash and Wonder Woman. I wish them luck.

I think this wouldn't work. They would probably focus on one or two characters than have every one has fluff for the movie. I wasn't a big a fan of the last X-men movie. I t was too focused on powers and nothing on characters and that is probably what would happen to the Justice League film. There would too many characters and focused on one of each of ther powers and some lame villians.

I'll be surprised if they can hammer out enough deals to get so many superheroes in one movie. WB is just ridiculous, and I don't quite understand how, but there are reasons they usually don't do "crossovers", as they call them. For instance, even though WB has rights to all DC comics, the reason Bruce Wayne has not been on "Smallville" yet is because there are still a bunch of legal issues of ownership that they haven't been able to work out. I don't understand how a company can own 2 properties yet still have issues like these. They wanted to have a Bruce Wayne guest spot back in season 3. I'm afraid of a Justice League movie that would have only 3rd tier members that the movie producers don't care if they use. Oh, and I don't give a crap if Routh was in it or not. I'd just as soon forget "Superman Returns".

I agree that a live action film will not do 'Justice' (pun intended!) to the League. The right way to go would be a JL spinoff from Smallville on CW. 1:The core members have already been introduced: Green Lantern,Impulse, Aquaman, and Cyborg (...and Boy Scout!) Note: Keep the same actors! 2:The main arc would be the destruction of Lex's 33.1 facilities 3:Character/episode crossover events (and great ratings opportunity for CW!)

It will never happen. . .remember what happen to Superman VS Batman, Batman Beyond, Flash and etc. It's too big even for the great WB. . . . Mark my words, it will be dead in about a 8 months, or at least till after they read the first draft.

As for idea, Moz72 concept for Smallville spinoff is great. I see it as the next logical step. Character/episode crossover event would be great for smallville at this time. Or hopefully making a Batman Beyond or Batman the early year a television series...But for Justice League movie. I think it is about time and I believe they can do it justice. If Marvel can make an excellent X-Men series, keep it to the basic, DC can definitely make it happen with JL assuming all legal stuffs is out of the way.
