Sigourney Weaver will be putting on some fangs and taking a bite out of humanity in a theater near you soon. HR's Heat Vision reports the actress has been tapped to a vampire queen in Vamps. The romantic horror-comedy is being spearheaded from director Amy Heckerling (Clueless) who wrote the screenplay. Red Hour is producing as well as Lauren Versel of Lucky Monkey Pictures and Molly Hassell. Production is slated to begin in late April.

Plot Concept: The modern-day story focuses on beautiful young vampires (Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter) who are living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality. Weaver will play Ciccerus, the bloodthirsty vampire who turned the two ladies into creatures of the night.

I like Sigourney in anything.

I didn't know Alicia Silverstone was still alive. I used to love her til she went MIA, sexy

Didn't know Alicia Silverstone was still alive? That's funny, Wiseguy. Yeah, she's still around, I guess. Same for Amy Heckerling. Didn't do any news movies for a while.  And the last movie she did wasn't even released in theatres. It went straight to cable.

I'm with you, Wise.  I didn't realize she was still working.

This has potential...could be pretty good actually...

"I Could Never Be Your Woman," Heckering's last flick, was released theatrically overseas, but direct to video domestically.

I like the talent involved (especially the insanely hilarious and beautiful Ritter who was terrific in "She's Out of My League"), but the plot doesn't seem all that interesting. I'd really like to see Ritter in a starring role, instead of playing the sidekick. Someone should write a romantic comedy about the sidekicks and have it star Ritter and Judy Greer (who is always amazing on the screen).

Doesn't everybody like Sigourney in anything!?

I did not like Weaver in "Death and the Maiden." She went topless. NOT cool. If you saw it, you understand.

Sigourney is great but unless the trailers impress me I'll probably just wait for this one to come out on video. I miss scary vampires.

I don't recall her being topless on "death in the Maiden" but it eas a pretty good movie as I recall. Messed up but good.
