Weaver Confirms Avatar 2,3,4

Back to Back to Back

Showbiz 411 reported on Sigourney Weaver’s recent schedule and TV Show Political Animals. In divulging her hectic schedule she revealed some much anticipated Avatar news.

Weaver confirmed tonight that James Cameron is shooting Avatar 2, 3, and 4 all at the same time, all with her, and starting this fall.

Are you ready for the Clintons as a political soap opera? Sigourney Weaver is playing it pretty close to Hillary and Ciaran Hinds is a damn good Bill Clinton in USA Network’s 'Political Animals'. The studio threw a fine all star premiere in New York last night at the Morgan Library, showing off Greg Berlanti’s new dramedy. Frankly, like most of the USA Networks shows, this could play on NBC in prime time. A real movie star, Sigourney Weaver, plays  Elaine Barrish, ex First Lady of a philandering Democratic president who becomes Secretary of State.

Sound familiar? Ellen Burstyn gets the fun role of being Sigourney’s loose lipped, hilarious and always a little tipsy mother. The couple also has two kids–James Wolk plays the “good” son, who’s marrying a bulimic Asian American. Sebastian Stan is the coke snorting gay son. It’s a soap opera, but it’s deliciously done, extremely well written and produced. This is a six episode limited run beginning July 15th, but 'Political Animals' will more than likely find a permanent place on the USA schedule very quickly. Sigourney is phenomenal.

When 'Political Animals' finishes shooting, see if you can follow Weaver’s schedule: she goes right into a new Christopher Durang play for a short run at Lincoln Center. Then she films Avatar 2, 3, and 4 with James Cameron. That’s right: they’re making three sequels to the blue 3D phenom all at the same time. Weaver says she has no idea how long it will take, or how it’s going to work. 'I just show up,' she said. If 'Political Animals' is renewed, USA will have to wait until all that’s over”. -Showbiz 411

I'm up for more, but It would be cool if they introduce more humanoid aliens to the mix.

Even I think that planning 3 sequels is getting a little ahead of ourselves. But Cameron has yet to disappoint

From all accounts the next one will focus on the oceans and who knows where to next. I can't wait to see what JC comes up with, til now he has always upped the ante with all his sequels

Sounds like a bit too much Avatar for my tastes.

I would only say "Too much Avatar" if Cameron was NOT doing them.   Cameron makes great damn movies. And in these days great movies are an endangered species.

I think a bigger concern is Ryan Reynolds officially as The Highlander.  Post something about that so we can all talk about how stupid that is.

Um.... One little, tiny, eensie, weensie, not-really-worth-mentioning hiccup there with regard to the Avatar news...didn't Weaver's character DIE!!!!! in the last film!?!?!?!?!?

I mean seriously, Cameron!

Attention to detail has always been on of your strong points as a filmmaker!

toran, from the get-go it has always been Cameron's plan to have Weaver's character back for the sequels.  Maybe some flashback scenes?  This isn't the first article regarding the subject.

Also, it's up for debate whether you can say that she really "died."  Her spirit was "uploaded" into the planet basically through that Tree of Souls, or whatever they call it.  I could easily see Jake et al plugging into the Tree and speaking with her.  In which case Cameron could very well be plannig to have her portrayed in full-body form for those scenes.  Like plugging into the matrix.
