Some more insight from Sigourney Weaver has appeared online in relation two high genre profile projects on the horizon.

As a main star in the, Alien and Ghostbusters franchises, the actress has more than a passing interest in what goes down around their mythology. While promoting her latest film Prayers for Bobby, Weaver talked to TV Squad about both franchises and the latest rumors around her characters.

When recent Alien rumors appeared online saying that Ellen Ripley would be a character in the 20th Century Fox prequel, a lot of fans were left scratching their head on how the iconic character could be in a prequel to the events that took place in the first film. It seems that Sigourney Weaver agrees with those questions and has voiced her concern about messing around with her Ripley character's history.

"Well, I don't think that Ripley could appear in an Alien prequel because she doesn't have any access to the creature until the first Alien, "says Weaver on the rumors. "But Ridley (Scott) is producing it and that makes me happy. I wasn't thrilled with the whole Alien Vs. Predator thing."

Ghostbusters 3

While promoting "Prayers" back in March, Weaver told Mania  that she's open to returning to her Dana Barrett character in Ghostbusters 3 but she has doubts on whether her role will be written into the script, which is rumored to center on passing the batons to a younger group of ectoplasmic fighters.

“I don’t know about Ghostbusters. I hope that if they do another one, they’ll put Oscar – my son – in it,” said Weaver.

She also told TV Squad the same deal and confirmed her hopes that her character's son Oscar will be in it.

"I think they're trying to create something new completely with the Ghostbusters, although I know Bill is in it. I hope my little son Oscar (from Ghostbusters II) is a Ghostbuster! ... I don't expect to have anything to do with it, although I wish them well."

You could have Ripley in a way where she wouldn't know about the alien. But there would be a lot of separate scenes - telling two separate stories.

The one and only way for Ripley to appear without effing up a great character IMHO is to end the film with the beginning of Alien and just show the Nostromos rolling in. Anything else would probably suck, she has nothing to do with the aliens prior to the film and she wasn't even in charge

Don't really care much for the GB, I'm convinced it will suck. I'll be more than happy to be wrong but I doubt it

Flash back?

She's smart. I am convinced both will suck.

I think the guys from The Hangover would make a good Ghostbuster's team since the originals are passing the torch.

Who wants another Ghost busters?  Not I.  Another alien, maybe, but I'm not holding my breath that it will be any good.  Still I love Ridley, wish he was also directing.

SgtTechCom 7/1/2009 10:49:56 AM

Weaver needs to just talk that fool James Cameron into making another Aliens movie. I want it , You want it , we all want it !

Thats the only way another alien movie would be any good.

This remake is STOOPIT! THE worst idea for a remake EVER! How do you remake the most perfect Sci-Fi/Horror film ever made? Like the other remakes that have come out, this will suck beans too, and I REFUSE to have any part of it! This is my single most favorite horror film and one of my favorite Sci-Fi films. And it's one of the best made films on top of that! Fuck this remake and all involved! Go to hell!

hanso 7/1/2009 11:11:42 AM

I don't think it's remake Eagle, breathe easily my friend.

Almost - I'm down for more ghostbusting.  Check the game out, it's pretty cool.  It has the rookie idea they want to use for a possible 3rd film.

ZL1FIREPOWER 7/1/2009 1:11:21 PM

It's OK Eagle; just like Hanso said; it's not a remake.  It's going to be a prequel and I sure hope that Weaver isn't in it based on what everyone else is saying.  At least Ridley Scott will be producing it.

I'm down for another GB movie too.  I enjoyed the first two so why not go for a third.
