Weaving is good.  But I would go with Christoph Waltz for Red Skull.  At least you'd have an actor that wouldn't have to affect a German accent.

To note, there was one scene in TDK where Ledger's face was out of make-up.  When he was disguised as a police officer at the funeral.

Thor is sounding really good.

Shut up and make the movie yourself Todd.  You have the money, I'm sure.

@Lusiphur... Ledger still had the scar makeup on his mouth... just no white and black.

Spawn will never get made.  If I have an extra $10 mil lying around, I'll fund the project!

Weaving is all about the voice, however, I don't know about the Red Skull either.  He does need to be a strong, gritty sounding German ...  maybe he can pull it off.  He pulled off Elven...

Well, if McFarlane really can make a Spawn movie for only 10 mil dollars he certainly will make a huge profit even with it being rated R.

Don't forget Weaving had his face covered the entire time for V for Vendetta and he didn't mind.  I think it's a cash thing.  Dark Horizons was reporting that the role for Captain America was a 9 picture deal at only 300,000 per film.   I would jump at it but I can understand why some actors, even unknown ones, would hesitate.  They reported that was the hold up with that Hedlund guy I said I would like to see as Cap.  Marvel really tries to get more for less, I will say that for them.

I'm not going to say it this time but I still have to say that THOR appears to be hitting on everything.  This movies is going to be four hours long!  (NOTE: That was not a complaint)

I think Weaving would be awesome as the Red Skull.  I wanted him to play Sinestro so bad, but Red Skull would be sweet.  I seriously doubt Christoph Waltz wants to make a career out of always playing the Nazi.

Dazzler 3/12/2010 7:49:55 AM

I was just thinking the other day that Waltz would make a great imperial in Star Wars also if Lucas gets his head out of his a$$.  I think he would make a better Red S than Hugo who seems to be a whore for movies these days.  I remember he did not even bother seeing his TF's movies...not that I blame him for that.

Wiseguy 3/12/2010 8:33:03 AM

Waltz was good in IB but that hardly suggests he'd be a good Red Skull. I prefer Weaving myself because I think he can do menacing better. And I'm ok with Marvel lowballing these guys. These films sell themselves, if they flop is because they weren't that good not because of lack of "stars". A newcomer should jump at the opportunity because this would jump start their career big time. And if 300k isn't enough for them to live on then eff them I say.

I'm trying to remain cool but all these Marvel projects really have me jacked up, IM, THOR, CAP, Avengers....

Don't remember ever hearing of Dan Dare but it sounds like my cup of tea

Cap: Good choice on Weaving.  Great actor that is recognizable. I do agree Waltz would have been very cool especially riding high after his Oscar win but I believe he said it himself that he doesn't want to play a nazi again after the Oscars.

Thor: I was one of the skeptics when they announced this but the more I hear, the more I am pumped. At first I thought "man, fantasy meets modern will look pretty corny" but after seeing franchises like Harry Potter and Hellboy cross these two genres, this might actually work.

Spawn: Give it up Todd. Spawn blows. The movie blew. Image heroes are yesterday's news. If you want 10 million to produce a movie, sell your McGuire baseball...uh wait...it's not even worth that...

CaptAmerica04 3/12/2010 8:54:31 AM

Oh my goodness!!  Ya know, with all the talk (and worry on my part) about who they'll cast as Cap, I didn't even think about who they'd cast as a villain.  If it's an origin story, then they need to cast Red Skull AND Baron Zemo (and possibly a voice actor for Arnim Zola?!?!).

Hugo Weaving would be GREAT as Red Skull.  His voice has that proper seething sound to it, especially if he can pull off a German accent, too.

When I saw WOLFMAN yesterday I started thinking about Hugo as Red Skull. Isn't Red Skull Italian though? I think that was one thing the 1990 movie got right. Scott Paulin did look pretty good as Red Skull than.

Hugo Weaving does look exactly like Namor.

Maybe the role is for NAMOR. Why would skull be in 9 movies? There is no way there will 9 Cap or Avengers movies and with villains like Mandarin and the leader on the rise it would be unlikely. Namor would is a possibility for 9 films unless someone ot it wrong and the 9 pics are just sam jacksons deal.

DaForce1 3/12/2010 9:17:23 AM

I've heard from a friend that knows someone on the production that Weaving has already signed for the role.
