Famed author Stephen King and his son Joe Hill have joined forces to write a 60 page novella called Throttle and it looks like it's already getting optioned for a theatrical adaptation a year before hitting book shelves. Producer Nick Wechsler has optioned the screen rights to the upcoming horror tale thanks in part to having elements that appeal to him. The novella will be published next year in a Richard Matheson anthology titled "He is Legend".

"It has elements of iconic films like 'Duel' and 'Breakdown,' but with a horror element that I want to push," Wechsler said.

Plot Concept:
The protagonists in the King-Hill novella are father-son members of a motorcycle gang that's chased through the desert by an 18-wheel tanker truck.

I didn't know they were writing a novella together, but I would love to see Joe Hill's Heart Shaped Box make it to the big screen.

This sounds like a rip-off of Spielberg's Duel. That movie was awesome back in the day.

Wolfman have you seen The Car? I loved that movie and that's one which I wouldn't mind seeing remade.

Just make sure it's the 1977 version. I think there have been other movies with the same title about different subjects. And by the way the car I thought looked cool as hell too.

It's not a ripoff of Duel. Duel was written by Matheson and the story was made into the movie by Spielberg. This book is a bunch of writers paying homage to Matheson and his works by doing sequels or interpretations of his work. This story is a sequel to the story that Matheson wrote; Duel. I think it's going to be sweet.

And I agree that Heart Shaped Box should be a movie, that was an original ass ghost story. I think Joe Hill is going to turn out to be a better writer that his father. His first book atleast is better than some of the stuff that King has put out lately. Though that's not saying it's bad.

I wish they would make more Dean Koontz books into movies....good movies....like Strangers or Twilight Eyes or I personally think that the Odd Thomas series would make a killer movie...Frankenstein could have been a great adaptation, but the fucked it up, thats why Koontz removed his name from it.....I like King's books, but I think he is getting a little long in the tooth....although, this sounds like it could be fun, Duel with a horror element,,,nice.
