WE WERE SOLDIERS, a Vietnam War drama set against the backdrop of the first major battle between the United States and North Vietnamese forces, wrapped principal photography on locations in Georgia, and California.

More specifically, the film's story is set in 1965, in a place known as the Ia Drang Valley of Vietnam, in a small clearing called Landing Zone X-Ray, Lt. Col. Hal Moore (Mel Gibson) and four hundred young troopers from an elite American combat division -- were surrounded by approximately two thousand enemy soldiers. The ensuing battle was one of the most savage in U.S. history.

The coming film, which is based on Joseph L. Galloway's book WE WERE SOLDERS ONCE... AND YOUNG, will also star Madeleine Stowe, Sam Elliott, Greg Kinnear, Chris Klein, Barry Pepper and Keri Russell. The film's script was written by Randall Wallace (BRAVEHEART), who also directed the picture as well as acting as one of the producers with Bruce Davey and Steve McEveety.
