The Superman Movie I want to see

(Mon 03/19/2007 08:33am)
I really didn't like a whole lot about Superman Returns outside of the shuttle rescue, some of the iconic imagery, the score, special effects and the main title. Routh was OK, and I think he would have looked better with a better suit (ie - bigger shield and no speedo shorts). I didn't like Bosworth as Lois at all and hated the kid angle.

This is the Man of Steel movie I want to see...Always plotting to discredit and destroy Superman, Luthor uses a sample of Superman's blood that was left of the kryptonite shard that he snapped off in Superman's side in SR to create a close of Superman. But, the cloning process is not perfect and the clone quickly begins deteriorating. Luthor ties to kill the clone, but fails. The clone escapes, and tries to put it's life together within it's warped mind and sense of reality (yes, I'm relying heavily on the first Bizarro episode from the Bruce Timm Superman cartoon) by kidnapping Lois and the kid. In the process, the kids gets killed (sorry, I absolutely HATE that plotline introduced in SR). The death of his son pushes Superman over the edge and he confronts Bizarro and they have a throwdown a la Neo and Smith in the final matrix film. Of course Superman defeats Bizarro who dies. With his son dead and Lois still with Perry's nephew, Superman retreats from his humanity, dedicating his life to nothing more than performing superfeats around the world. Lois, knowing his pain, leaves the nephew, and goes to the top of the Planet to scream his name hoping he will hear her and come to her. There, she finds Superman changing into Clark. Superman breaks down and she comforts him. He finds his humanity again and Lois finds the love that never really was gone anyway. As Clark and Lois they visit the kid's gave and the movie ends with Clark changing into Superman in front of Lois and flying off to save the world, or a cat stuck in a tree, again.

A little corny? Yeah, but that's one of things I like about Superman; in this age of anti-hero heroes, Superman is still all about truth, justice and all that stuff. I want this movie to be directed by Michael Bay because he's great with effects and iconic imagery, but I'll give Singer another swing before shitcanning him.

The Star Trek movie I want to see

(Wed 03/14/2007 12:10pm)
While I think J.J. Abrams will deliver an entertaining movie, here's the Star Trek movie I want to see...

The "Conspiracy" episode in the first season on Star Trek: The Next Generation dealt with an alien invasion. At the end of the episode, after Picard and crew have eliminated the immediate danger to the Federation, Data informs the captain that a signal of some sort was sent by the aliens' leader. The episode ends on an ominous note.

Flash forward 50 years. There's a new captain of a new Enterprise; the son of Riker and Deanna. He's a bit of a maverick with an appreciation of the past (thanks to his godfather Jean Luc Picard). Riker's Enterprise is sent on an investigative mission that leads them into conflict with the returning alien invaders from the "Conspiracy" episode.

This movie would give the studio a chance to cast a new crew, but still rely on the Star Trek name and fan base. Also, there would be plenty of opportunities for cameos from current continuity Star Trek characters, pleasing the long-time, die-hard fans.

Moving ahead in time from the current Star Trek timeline would give the director and studio a chance to build a new following, while still playing in the Trekverse.
