Syfy Cancels Alphas

Only 2 Seasons and done

Another Sci-Fi show on the SyFy channel bites the dust. The Hollywood Reporter posted that Alphas will not be returning. The Hollywood Reporter stated: “The cable network has canceled the one-hour drama created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow, which centered on an unlikely team of ordinary people with superhuman physical and mental abilities that took on mysterious cases the CIA, FBI and Pentagon were unable to solve”. This news comes just months after Alphas finished its second season. The series, featuring starring David Strathairn, had lost nearly half of its viewers after the first year.

So Maniacs, will it be missed? Does anyone even watch the SyFy Channel anymore for original programming?

Too bad I really enjoyed this show.

I enjoyed this show as well.

Looks like Warehouse 13 is the lone remaining original SyFy series that has me watching the channel.  Once that goes, I imagine, I'll be gone as well.

There used to be a time when I had quite few recordings scheduled every week on Sci-Fi.  Now I have Merlin (a BBC show) and Warehouse 13, when they are on, which is only like 3 months each per year.

What's Alphas?

Didn't even know this was still playing...

Well I do still watch SyFy always tune in for Face off if nothing else but I was dissapointed in blood and chrome not being a series on the network.

I liked it.  Very different twist on the "people with powers" genre.  I suppose the second season finale could qualify as a series finale with only one member surviving.  I was wondering where they were going to go with it.

I still watch Haven and Warehouse.  Their new show Defiance looks like it has potential, and I've heard Lost Girl and Being Human are decent.

It lasted longer than I thought it would to be honest. Since there's Avengers, X-Men and soon to be SHIELD show coming around...all with better budgets, how long did you think it would last? I do watch Being Human and Lost Girl is kinda interesting....

Wise, the simplest way of putting it is that Alphas is a boring version of the X-Men.  The show was OK, but I admit that I probably won't miss it.

Even more tragic is that Drop Dead Diva got canceled too and without proper closure.  But at least we got Buckwild to entertain us.
