Joss Whedon is talking about the upcoming events on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER again, and it looks like he's contemplating the series after this season, even if star Sarah Michelle Gellar should decided not to return next year.
"I'm game for almost anything," Whedon said about a post-Gellar show. "It's an incredibly strong ensemble. It's a very strong mythos. It's a huge universe we've created and an incredible cast of actors. So there are definitely opportunities for different kinds of shows."
One member of the ensamble not returning for season eight is Anya's Emma Caufield, who told SciFi Wire she would be leaving at the end of this year. However, she reportedly told the site most of the other members of the cast have signed on for season eight.
"[It's] my last year," Caufield said. "It depends on whether or not the show goes beyond a seventh season. Sarah has not signed on. The rest of the cast has signed on for an eighth season. I have not. I'm leaving. I'm done. It's just time, you know? It's been five great years. But it's sort of like, I use the analogy of, like, high school. ... Four years. It's time to graduate, you know? It's time."
