Hollywood sure loves Santa Claus. :P

Nothing brings out that holiday cheer and the spirit of gift-giving like warring factions of a Santa union. Or so Paramount Pictures believes. Variety reports the studio and producer Scott Rudin have hired screenwriter Mike White to flesh out a comedic story to Santa Wars. Rudin will produce along with Mike White and his Rip Cord Prods. Rudin and White worked together previously on School of Rock and Orange County.
Plot Concept: Based on the true story of rival factions that developed within a union of professional Santa Clauses who became arch enemies during a Santa Claus civil war.
The genesis of "Santa Wars" was a segment on Ira Glass' public radio show "This American Life" written by Joshuah Bearman that aired last December. The segment revolved around the battles that erupted after two men who made seasonal livings dressing up as Santas formed a union, the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas, but then became bitter rivals.
I actually like the idea. Maybe they'll go dark comedy ala Death to Smoochy, which I loved
Meh. I'd rather see something where Santa goes missing, a replacement is found (a la The Santa Clause), but then he's found. So the 2 Santas are battling to see who keeps the title. Actually, now that I see that in writing, it looks really lame. Stay away from both ideas entirely!
