Warner Bros. Pictures has finally unleashed the first official theatrical trailer for Whiteout, the Kate Beckinsale-led adaptation of the graphic novel. With the film coming out in September and actually getting shot three years back, there was some question as to what was taking so long here. But the WB has revealed it courtesy of IGN. You can check it out below.

The film stars Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Columbus Short, Alex O'Loughlin, Shawn Doyle and Tom Skerritt. Director Dominic Sena helmed it, based on a screenplay by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes.

Plot Concept: Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale), the lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica, is investigating the continent's first murder, which draws her into a shocking mystery. Now, with only three days until winter, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into darkness and she is stranded with the killer.

Whiteout will hit theaters September 11, 2009.

Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.

That looks pretty cool. It has elements of the Thing with the whole isolation fear of 30 Days of Night going on. What's great to me is I can't tell whether its just some sort crime/murder thing or some sci-fi/monster thing. maybe a little of both.
On another note, imagine being on a date with that voiceover guy. He must scare the crap out of chicks.

Agreed, Pony, the Thing was the first thing I thought of, although I doubt we'll get to see a decapitated head sprout legs and walk away.

The main reason why I'm really looking forward to this is because it appears to be something different. Not saying there aren't certain familiar elements (see previous sentence) but the overall feel is something a bit new. At this point Hollywood is seriously hurting for ideas and are starting to look for No-Fly-Zone type of properties.  I say it's about time.

Bruce Willis has Surrogates coming out later this year and there's a few others that have some real potential, we'll see.

Any creepy movie set in Antarctica just makes me wish Guillermo del Toro would do At The Mountains of Madness after The Hobbit. i agree though, looks cool. Hope it doesn't suck!

Kate Beckinsale on the big screen is pretty much reason enough to see this, but I don't think the trailer shows a very interesting movie. I'm hoping there are some really good thriller aspects to the film (the trailer hints that there might be), but maybe one of the reasons its been on the shelf for so long is that it's just not that good. There's really nothing in the trailer other than Kate to make me want to go see the film. I'm hoping for a good film, but I have a lot of doubts.

The movie does sound sort of cool but  since this has been pushed back well over a year my expectations are very low. Usually those kind of delays mean the movie sucks or sucked and needed some revamping which usually don't help anyway.

I almost completely agree with you wes, but the location itself is pretty awesome and that draws me in a bit as well.  Though Obviously I have stated many times that Kate is prehaps my favorite actress, but in this case I am biased because I find her so incredibly attractive.

Didn't mean to write my name, just worked out that way.

I'll give Kate Beckinsale some of my own "WhiteOut" hehe   >=)

This is a really good graphic novel series. I've read both installments. No sci-fi elements though, sorry guys, unless they changed it for the movie. It's a crime thriller.
