WHITEOUT Trailer

The missing film resurfaces with a new promo clip

Remember that filmed adaptation of Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber's excellent graphic novel 'Whiteout'? Sure you do. It's got Kate Beckinsale in it. It's directed by Dominc Sena. They've been promoting it at the previous two Comic-Cons in San Diego. They'll probably promote it at this year's event too. They filmed it in 2007 and it's been...on ice...since then.

Well, current projections now have the movie coming out on September 11 of this year and Warner Bros have finally released a trailer for the film which has surfaced on TrailerSpy.com. The opening leg of the clip evokes those thrillers of the 1970s and 1980s where a monotone voice would explain the complexities of the story in 120 seconds time. After Mr. Voice Over drops some knowledge about Antarctica on you, things start to pick up as the core plot of the movie is revealed: A murder at one of the harshest human-inhabited locations in the world. The trailer is, strangely, non-white.

Beckinsale stars as U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko assigned to the international station in Antarctic who is forced to sort through a murder during the region's deadly winter season. Gabriel Macht also stars.

Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.

Looks interesting enough. Of course I never read the comic so it's all new to me. The only thing is that when films keep getting pushed back and back and back like this it usually means they suck.

Looks pretty good. Just don't know why they keep pushing it back though, which is unfortunate. I love me some Kate Beckinsale and looks like an interesting crime thiller set in the Antarctica. Who would have ever thought of a concept like that right? Kinda like the Thing but without crazy aliens and Kurt Russell.

The guy who did the voice over, I think he's the same guy who did the voice over for the faux trailer Thanksgiving from the film Grindhouse.

That was Kiefer Sutherland in the voiceover.

Meh.  Doesn't seem like anything too grand

I`d just like to know who she pissed off to get that assingment as a U.S. Marshal in Antartica.

Seem like 30 Days of Night without the Vampires and set on the opposite end of the earth......could be cool, but would like to see a full trailer and not a teaser

todd89_home 6/18/2009 9:30:31 AM

looks good to watch

Don't think that's Kiefer doing the voice over and the guy who did the voice over for "Thanksgiving" was the director Eli Roth.  Not sure who it is, but it works for the trailer I think.

Like you said WiseGuy, It usually isn't a good sign when a movie keeps getting pushed back, but I too think it looks interesting. Plus come on...it has Kate Beckinsale in it and she is really nice to look at..though she is going to be wearing winter clothes and not leather....oh well, she's still very attractive either way you go!

Reminds me of The Thing, sans aliens. Still, it looked amazing. I'm surprised a trailer like this wasn't released sooner. It's refreshing to see one that, for once, DOESN'T give out all the answers of the plot.

I like that.
