GLADIATOR producer Douglas Wick has been talking about an even bigger challenge than recreating ancient Rome: making us believe a boy can fly in a live-action adaptation of J. M. Barrie's PETER PAN.
While talking E! Online's Anderson Jones, Wick spoke of the project's helmer, P.J. Hogan (MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING), who also wrote the script, saying, "P.J. wrote a brilliant script. In it, Captain Hook is a soulful, fascinating, frustrated man who's stuck on the wrong sea. It's beautiful work."
Wick says that current plans are to create Neverland via CG effects, adding "maybe Tinkerbell, too, we're not sure."
Wick explains why, in his opinion, the film would connect in this day and age, saying, "The book has been a hit since the turn of the century, so it couldn't be more relevant about getting older, what youth is, what dying is."
