What They Say
Let's play 'who can last the longest'!

Yosuke and Akira are newlyweds and tonight is their first night together. Things are getting heated up in bed, but Yosuke has a little problem... he can't 'do' it! His wife, Akira, tells him that it's okay, but Yosuke is not going to accept that as an answer, and who can blame him?

Will Yosuke ever be able to please his wife? What will Yosuke have to do to get his 'thing' working correctly?

The Review!
It's not quite newlywed bliss yet for Yosuke and Akira as their intimate time together isn't quite so good at first...

Audio:
For our primary viewing session, we listened to this show in its original language of Japanese. The show has a standard stereo mix that you get with adult titles in that the bulk of the dialogue is center channel based but has a good full feeling to it. Some of dialogue does have some minor directionality to it but it's the music that makes the most use of them in giving it a full feel. Dialogue is clean and clear throughout and we had no issues with dropouts or distortions during regular playback.

Video:
Originally released in 2004, the transfer for this show is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. Similar to other shows of this vintage, the transfer is in excellent shape and its reflected well through the authoring process as the colors look great and mostly maintain a solid feel. There's a bit of a digital gradient issue showing up in some of the backgrounds which has a visible blocky feel but the majority of the large color areas look good and solid. Cross coloration and aliasing are essentially non-existent and overall this is a very good looking piece.

Packaging:
Though the series is short it has some great artwork and this is no exception as we get a very attractive image of Akira in her apron and panties at the kitchen counter cooking up some breakfast. It's very much a traditional fanservice shot but it's just very well done and looks great here with the colors and design. The only problem is that it mentions 30 minutes of bonus content and I can't find that anywhere here. The back cover has a lot of shots from the show that titillate even more and has a decent summary of the episodes plot and premise along the left. The discs features and production information rounds out the bottom part and covers most of the basics in a clean and easy to read layout.

Menu:
The menu layout uses the artwork from the front cover but with a bit softer coloring to it and has a more peach flavored filter for the background as that image is along the left. The right side features a focus on the character artwork and removes the panties from her that were on the cover version and there's a bit of music playing along to it. The layout is quick and easy to use with separate sections for everything. Access times are nice and fast and due to the language setup our players' presets were a non-issue.

Extras:
The only extra included is a slideshow featuring shots from the show.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
The all too short Wife with Wife series comes to a close with this volume and we get a new story and setting that introduces us to some new players, attractive indeed, who have their own issues to deal with. Fitting into the thirty minute runtime nicely, it's the kind of story that makes for a brief and interesting little venture that you wouldn't mind seeing more of but does a good enough job that you don't mind that it's the end.

The story revolves around Yosuke and his new bridge Akira. The two of them have just gotten married and are in the process of moving into their new place. They've been good friends for a long time and their relationship progressed enough to where they're finally married but they've never actually consummated their love in a physical way. So at the end of the day after all the moving in, they finally get down to business after some very awkward moments and for poor Yosuke, it's barely a five second deal before it's all over. She's sympathetic enough about it but it's a crushing moment for him but there's always tomorrow.

His first day of work as a married man starts off well enough though as he gets a very loving kiss on his way out the door and it keeps him in a good mood as he goes through his job as an assistant director. On the downside, depending on your point of view, he inadvertently walks in on actress Atsuko as she's changing and gets quite an eyeful. This sparks some interest in him from her and she meets him after work to apologize for her behavior but that only leads to the two of them being photographed together which could lead to a problem for his wife. When she comes to their house to reassure him about the problem, she ends up meeting Akira who is heading out the door for some errands.

Atsuko takes advantage of this and beds Yosuke before he knows it though and this leads into some surprising changes for him as he's able to be something better about his performance and Atsuko has an interesting revelation about herself as well. The show has only three characters to it but they're all rather nicely done and play up their respective roles just right. Akira is obviously the respectful and obedient young wife that aims to please with her purple hair and similar eyes while Atsuko is the outside firebrand with her red hair and very open erotic nature. Their designs are attractive overall with not entirely out of proportion bodies while Yosuke himself isn't a milksop like you'd expect but a decent looking character if a bit unsure of himself which is only natural in the kind of setting that's laid out here.

In Summary:
Wife with Wife in this installment is a bit more tender and soft than the first volume was but it has plenty of appeal and covers a problem that does hit a lot of people who find themselves married without having ever experienced sex before. While the situation is very much a porn situation they do cover some of the emotions well enough to get the general idea. The episode is definitely attractive in its animation and the sex scenes, while basic, are enjoyable since they're not something completely outlandish. This is a good couples show or the kind of show that would be a good introduction to adult shows.
