Will Smith Says "I" to ROBOT

Classic Asimov short story collection to become a movie

Yahoo reports that Fox has bought the rights to make a movie based on Isaac Asimov's short story collection, I, ROBOT and have signed Will Smith (MEN IN BLACK 2) to star. Smith will play a detective charged with the task of finding out how robots could have violated the three laws of robotics.

The laws state that a robot will not let harm come to humans, will follow all orders given by humans that do not contradict the first rule, and will not allow harm to come to themselves unless that would violate the first two rules.

The movie will be directed by Alex Proyas (DARK CITY, THE CROW) and will begin shooting in April 2003.
