According to Trekmovie.com, William Shatner and J.J. Abrams have talked about the upcoming film STAR TREK XI.

Shatner apparently told those attending a convention in Chicago that "on the horizon there are good things for Star Trek and, hopefully, my involvement."

Shatner and Abrams reportedly have another meeting sometime this week. Leonard Nimoy, who was also at the Chicago convention, said that he was amenable to the film and Abrams, but that he has not yet spoken to Abrams directly.

Having Shatner and Nimoy involved lends a great deal of credibility to this project. As a fan of the show since the first run of the original series, I'm very excited about the film and anxious to see where Abrams takes it.

Things are looking up. While I don't trust Paramount, I do trust Abrams.

Oh man.... People on this sight go on and on about Hollywood being devoid of origionality and yet they welcome Star Trek XIXXIXVIXXIVIX: The Search for a Plot.

I still think Captain Worf + USS Genocide + "Ramming Speed" = box office gold!!!!

#3, it's 'site', not 'sight' but I agree they shouldn't do a young KIrk and Spock for this movie.

I read somewhere that Nimoy has a say in who gets cast as a young Spock. Does Shatner have a say in young Kirk? I've been a Trek fan my whole life, and while I'm not crazy about recasting Kirk and Spock I'm going to be optimistic about J.J. Abrams' take on Trek. I enjoyed MI3 a lot (thought it was the best of the three) and while I'm not a fan, think Alias and Lost are two well-done series.

I hate the idea of a prequel please do something smart here JJ Let Shatner guide the vision but go with a new crew new ship. No specific time period and let Shat do a cameo as a Hologram or something that still leaves some dignity to this Great series!!

Trust Abrams? I'm not going that far just yet.

Didn't he already say it wouldn't involve Shatner & Nimoy?
