Oh so Wiseman wants to make another movie with unrelated actions scenes with no dialogue or character development...nice!

Deadline.com had the exclusive today that Total Recall (2012) director, Len Wiseman, will helm the new Mummy movie. Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) will be writing the script and the film is slated for a 2014 release. Lost producers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci will produce the film through their Universal-based K/O Paper Productions. The producers of the 1999 relaunch of The Mummy (and it’s subsequent sequels) Sean Daniel and Jim Jacks are also involved with the project. Deadline spoke with Spaihts about the script:

Hopefully Jessica Biel or Collin Farrel will be nowhere near this movie
I really liked the new Total Recall... and I loved the original, which to me is really hard to watch now as years have passed, between bad effects and even worse acting, so to me the new one is better.
Um, not a Wiseman fan. Kind of disapointing news. I assume his wife will be involved. I'm a BIG fan of making this all out horror. Not CGI all over the place. Guess we will see. Surely, this director has one good movie in him.
Inner - maybe he does...after all, The Mummy was the one good movie Stephen Sommers had in him...
I loved The Mummy with Frasier. It was a great adventure movie. Though the next couple were not so great. Wiseman is ok, I'm not excited.
I'd be open to a more horror-centric Mummy...as much as I like the first one in the Brenden Fraser franchise, it was a lot more adventure...it almost filled the Indiana Jones vacuum, actually. But yeah, a return to the scary horror Mummy could be interesting.
