WOLF CREEK Website Launched

By: News Editor
Date: Wednesday, November 02, 2005
Source: Dimension Films

The official website for WOLF CREEK has launched. The horror/adventure/thriller stars Cassandra Magrath, John Jarrett and Andy McPhee.

The story centers on a trio of twenty-something backpackers who take a wrenching detour into the depths of unrelenting terror. The freewheeling, college-aged pals Liz (Cassandra Magrath), Kristy (Kestie Morassi) and Ben (Nathan Phillips) head out for a holiday hike in stunning Wolf Creek National Park to see its mysterious meteor crater. When they return, their car won't start. Trapped in the vast emptiness of the wilderness all they can do is wait for rescue. Luckily, as night falls, along comes colorful local bushman Mick (John Jarratt) and his massive truck, offering a tow to safety. But as the sun comes up the next morning, it becomes shockingly apparent that Mick has no intention of fixing their car or letting them leave the Outback...ever again.

The film open in the U.S. on January 6th, 2006.

This is said to be the scariest movie ever. And being Aussie, it does hit a little close to home

Might be scary, but its as about as unoriginal as anything else lately. Still sounds like a Blair Witch movie...LOL!

unoriginal? oh yeah wait, its based on a true story. nothing original ever REALLY happens.

Then again come to think of it..Blair Witch scared me for all of 10 seconds. After which i promptly drove back to blockbuster and throttled the cashier for talking me into renting it.

I don't see here anything saying it's based on a true story. Was that said somewhere else?
Also, originality means nothing if you have creative film-makers who know what to do with the material. I hope it is scary. Truly scary films are sadly in short supply.

It's very very loosely based on the numerous backpacker murders that happened in Australia over the years, most notoriously by a fellow called Ivan Milat. From what I've been told, it's nothing like the Hollywood movies where there has to be excessive goryness, a large body count and twists around every corner. The director spends some time on making the audience like the characters, and the antagonist is just a regular guy - no spooky character or whatever the hell it has to be according to Hollywood.

I think I remember reading something about this being a true story... somewhere, no idea where it was now, so there's me helping, maybe the IMDb. I don't think it sounds at all like Blair Witch, probably just the photo up there and the hiking aspect. An honest to goodness scary movie would be very cool to see, I haven't been really scared by anything since I saw Ringu a few years ago. Even with a crappy translation it was great.

I am tired of hearing people talk shit about blair witch. It was a good movie and everyone liked it until they found out it was fake. It was creative a little scary and grouhndbreaking enough to make millions in the box office. If u dont like it fine, but give credit to the fact that it made more than serenity!

gentdeath, Blair Witch was a good movie but it wasnt when people figured out that it was fake that people started to dislike it.
Witch has 100% effectivness in theaters, and thats because 1) nobody knew what the hell was going to happen and 2) theaters present a huge screen and a dark room to get creeped out by.
once the flick went to VHS and DVD, you watch it in the confinds of your home, a dinky TV screen and a not so dark and creepy room and all that effectivness is completely and utterly lost and has ZERO "creep" EFFECT.

anyway.. enough about that.. Wolf Creek isnt about Werewolves? BAH! :P
