Dubbed RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN, the PC game picks up where the last clip ran out on the original. Play's website has interviewed creative director Drew Markham on his work to bring the game back to overworked gamer screens everywhere.
"RETURN TO CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN is kind of a remake of the original game," Markham told Play. "...but we wanted to focus a lot on a lot of the weird elements that were going on in World War II -- with Himmler, there was a massive obsession with the occult and paranormal activities. In the game there's an actual SS paranormal division, there's genetic research resulting in these mutated creatures that are half-man, half machine... The gameplay control scheme is very similar to QUAKE 3 in how you move and shoot and all that. There are additional elements in that we have items you can pick up and you can activate a lot of things... There will definitely be a multiplayer component but we're still formulating exactly what that's gonna be, but I have to stress to you that this game, first and foremost, is a single-player experience... It's definitely that over-the-top kind of comic book sort of flair. It's not your daddy's World War II."
The game is expected at the end of the year.
