ComingSoon.net chatted up 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' producer Lauren Shuler Donner who talked a bit about the new movie.

"I guess it's closer to the first 'X-Men' in tone because it's a little darker, but there's a lot of action," Donner said. "It's his origin story. It's really good. I've been in the editing room the last couple of weeks and I think that it's good and that audiences are going to like it. But it's a little darker."

Donner said the movie borrows some of its story from the 'Origin' comic of 2001, "and then it's sort of an amalgamation of some of them. But ['Origin'] sort of goes back into his young, young past, and we started there."

And does Hugh Jackman's revisitation of the character that made him great kick ass?

"Well, you haven't seen this side of him. It's darker and sadder and it's kick-ass. There's a ton of action. It's really kick-ass," Donner said.

Of course, fans know that Ryan Reynolds appears in the movie as the merc with a mouth, Deadpool. Could a spin-off happen?

"I hope so. I really hope so. He's so good at it," said Donner.

I hope it is cool. I'm worried though. I get the feeling that they are adding too many characters just to do spin offs. I really don't think Deadpool belongs in the first solo Wolverine movie, though I do like Ryan Reynolds for the part. I always go the feeling that Deadpool is kind of a cheesy mix of Wolverine and Spiderman, who just happen to be Marvels biggest characters.

I hope so. The X-Men movies sucked. Wolverine was always getting his ass kicked

I have to disagree with the comment that Wolverine (in the X-Men movies)always got his ass kicked. He always gave as good as he got and I really do think that the ORIGIN movie will shed more light on Wolverine's dark past. Deadpool, however, is not the type of character that would be right for a spin-off (meaning his own movie). Casting Ryan Reynolds for the part, though, is a stroke of genius. He certainly played his character to the hilt in Blade: Trinity and I think he'll do the part of Deadpool justice as well.

Deadpool was created as a joke by Rob Liefield. It's a play on words with DC's Deathstroke. Deadpool - Deathstroke Wade Wilson - Slade Wilson After sporadically appearing in Liefield's work, his smart mouth gained recognition with fans when he finally starred in his own series which had a low print run, with high demand in which now you can't buy an issue under $3. Also, being a fan favorite of the 'website we shall not name' helped greatly.

Yo AMiSHPiRATE--that's not funny Brah....show some class, or Imma have to VIOlate u mang.... Anyways.... I love how EVERY movie is gonna be better coming up cuz it's "DARKER" ooooo. haha I didnt really have high hopes from this movie, but for some reason i believe what Donner is saying. I hope it's as good as he really says it is. Does anybody know if this movie is rated R?? cuz if it is.... it better be a hard-core R baby! Also does anybody know if Deadpool wears the mask at all? I haven't seen it anywhere. OH GOD I hope it's not one of those movies where they just keep his mask off the whole freaking time! That would NOT be a cool Deadpool at all... F that!

Amish, damn it, I was about to type that. LOL

Can we replace "darker" with another word. Everytime I see it used to refer to a movie I want to throw up.

I guess "Origins" in the title really meant origin.

Really looking forward to this even though there was rumor not long ago about the studio meddling with the director's take and Schreiber looked like he was eating too many doughnuts to be any sort of threat to anyone but a slow baker. Sabretooth? more like Sweettooth

Still pretty pumped for this and all the X cameos.

And Wolverine better not be crying in this one, that pussy

I'm calling BS on this, after all this is Fox we're talking about, and they'll do or say anything to get people to be interested in their movie. They should just let Watchmen speak for them....then maybe we'll belive in them again....

All this damn Dark talk 2 run away from the fact that it's still gonna be PG13.. I'm gettin tired of "Dark" terminology. My new favorite movie word'z gonna have2 be"Bloody!!" can I get a Bloodier Wolverine, that's hairier and shorter! And dresses like a ninja from time2 time? I actually think they'd make more money if it were rated R.
